I don't have Sport or "X", just a RWD G37 with the 7AT. I've never driven it long enough in VDC off mode to see if my mileage increases. For safety reasons I prefer to keep it on, but if my mileage increased 4 MPG with it off, I would tend to leave it off more!
Maybe your tranny is slipping or something when the VDC is on? If your mileage really differs that much with it on and off, I would take it in to get it looked at.

that's what it looks like so far.
I drove home today and saw 21. got 3 miles from my house w/ the VDC on and it was 18.2 mpg. turned it off and the last 3 miles went back to 19.9.... weird.....
The automobile that I owned prior to my '09 G sedan was a '02 Toyota Camry. It's V6 engine generated a whopping 192 HP. I could coax 24 MPG city and 30 MPG highway out of it. With the 328 HP VVEL I have 136 more horse power at my disposal and I can still get 23 MPG city and 29 MPG highway with it. I'll take the G anyday! 
Current 09 G is Journey w/ Premium, no Tech pkg.
