Trunk Beeping?

Why does our trunk beep when I push the button on the trunk lid. My doors are unlocked, fob is in my pocket. It does not happen if I use the trunk release button inside the car. My car is set so the horn beeps when I use the fob to lock the car, and the electronic beep happens when I push the car door button. I would really like for the car to produce electronic beeps rather than the horn toots, but I don't think this is possible.

What in Zeus's butthole could be the point of giving me an electronic beep twice when I push the trunk release on the trunk lid? Why should I get any notification when opening my trunk? I know I pushed the button, what is the car trying to tell me?

I have used the search and do not see the question nor answer about the trunk beeps.

I don't like that either but have never bother to search if it can be shut-off.

FWIW...I also experience this in my '09 coupe. I'm not sure why it was designed this way, either. I find it odd, too.

The beeps are an indication that you are using the remote aspect of the intelligent key to open the trunk. Try leaving that key in the trunk and closing your trunk! It will beep incessantly and then open the trunk automatically.

This makes sense. The car is alerting you that you are about to do something stupid and protects you from yourself. I wouldn't have much of a problem if a boxing glove popped out and smacked me in the face for trying to lock my keys in my trunk, but beeping at me for opening my trunk is dumb. The beeping you get when you press you outside door handle locking mechanism is also useful. It is letting you know you locked the car or unlocked the car just like when using the fob chirps the horn. Beeping when I open my trunk is not useful. It is annoying to me, but I certainly can live with it.

I was actually hoping someone had a way to make this stop without affecting anything else or that it was only me, in which case I could take it to the dealership to be fixed.

I haven't checked myself but have you tried to silence it by pressing the lock and unlock together like you do to silence the unlock and lock beeps?
Just a thought.

That doesn't work as my lock and unlock buttons on the remote are silent.
