Nissan servicing Infiniti?

Hi Guys,

As I mentioned in my first post since joining the other day I am considering buuying a slightly used g37X sedan in june of this year give or take a month. I do not have an infiniti dealer here, the closest one is 5 hours away in Nova Scotia, or I can fly to Ontario and buy one and drive it home. The question I have is, can I take my infiniti to the Nissan dealer without issue, since Nissan makes Infiniti? I understand warranty items will be abitch if it's something that I need to take to the infiniti dealer, just curious if anyone else has purchased an infiniti in another state, city etc...?

When I had my '05 coupe I had all the oil changes done at either my local Nissan dealership or at local shops w/o issue. I still had to drive 3 hours to Chicago to the nearest Infiniti dealer to have warranty-related things addressed, but all my normal wear and tear stuff was handled elsewhere. I plan to do the same w/ my '09 sedan. In other words, not a problem.

I asked the local dealer when I got mine, explaining that his shop is a 45 minute drive from me, and I have a Nissan dealer only 3 or so miles from my home. He told me that as long as it's not warranty work it's okay for routine things. Warranty work an actual Infiniti dealer has to do though.

I know people who have had warranty work done elsewhere but it's a lot of paperwork for the place that did the work and the company so no one likes doing it.

+1 on what everyone else is saying.... I must say that there are a TON of used G37x's and G35x's for sale in Ontario though haha. Maybe if my old one was still up for sale you could pick it up!

It was an 07 G35x, black/black, premium, nav, and tech package, rear spoiler, only 33,000 km. haha.

BTW where are you located?

I am in New Brunswick. I want the G37 for the extra power and better mileage as well as scratch shield paint, I also like the 6 settings for the heat seats. I have been looking at autotrader almost everyday and you are right tons of g37x's on there with relatively low mileage. I just wish I was ready to buy now instead of later.

I won't be worried getting it serviced there. The dealership here in Bahrain is both the Nissan and Infiniti dealership. Besides Infiniti is a subsidiary of Nissan. Ask the Nissan dealership there if they've dealt with Infinitis before.

i think my dealership told me i can only get my car serviced by them (the only one on the island). i guess that's cool, cuz i can take advantage of the "infiniti total ownership experience", ie free car loaner, and good service (for me, so far)

Not sure why I was told this. Well the people I bought it from was both an Infiniti & Nissan dealership (Mostly Nissan, they maybe have a dozen new Infinitis on the lot at any one time). Could be he was half assuming, or slightly fibbing or was just a tiny bit misinformed. The dealership otherwise was honest and fair with no high pressure sales tactics so I'll assume he was misinformed.

Well, when I go to the local Nissan dealer I can ask him also. Will be in a couple months, I'm almost broke on..something like 1180 miles so I'll probably hit 1200 today.
