Driving short distances

Sometimes, I'll run out to a store that is maybe less than 1/4 mile away to get groceries, but I always wonder if its bad to drive such a short distance. I would walk if it wasn't 100+ degrees, and a crap load of stuff I need to get.

i do it all the time, but the answer is prolly, example: during startup at least ur suppose to let all the fluids/engine warm up etc, i never do this, i just start, bam go. and my work is 5mins away anyways, my engine barely warms to norm by the time i get there.
just enjoy ur vehicle, im sure it's no big deal for short term purposes, maybe in the long run like 8+yrs stuff might not work as well, but dont take my word for it.

The most wear on a motor occurs in the first minute of starting it.
Also short runs are hard on the exhaust

BUT.... warming up motors in the drive is from days gone by....not good, just drive it easy until she's warmed up

May be an issue charging the battery though.

agreed -- it's just a hunk of metal with wheels -- drive the thing .. you'll probably get rid of the car before you see any of the adverse effects of what you're talking about...

Are you asking if it's bad for bad to be driven short distance or if it's bad to drive short distance?

Car is made to be driven.. I have seen some ppl drive short distance to their mail box at home.

Now if you care about the environment and about CO, then don't drive short distance. I don't think anyone who purchased G is worrying about CO or MPG. I know I didn't if I did I would have gotten 4 ponies.
