Dealer lip spoiler install

Had the dealer lip spoiler installed today.

However, the outer edges seem somewhat loose.

Anyone else have a dealer installed OEM spoiler that can comment?

Will post pics as soon as I have a moment. But the dealer told me pretty much the same thing that dark86 was told. It just does not fit real tight around the edge of the trunklid.

I would find that unacceptable - i am sure it isnt pictured that way in the accessory catalog, right?

Pic will help but I suggest you communicate your displeasure with the dealership & work wih them (& their body shop) to make you happy
Good luck!

Mine is the same way. Dealer told me the exact same thing. After about 3 weeks though I don't notice it as much as before. It looks fine. I am a picky SOB too.

Post pics.

Sounds like they didnt drill the additional holes that are needed. Most likely just tried to stick it on with the double sided tape.

How stable is the lip? Any chance it could it fall off while driving?

I was thinking about buying an OEM front lip spoiler and taking it to the dealer to get installed because I didnt want to drill too many holes into my bumper, but if they're just going to tape it up, then I'll do it myself.....

Here is mine for you to compare too. Mine looks perfect and I see no tape. Maybe you can print these and show them.

Are you refering to the "front lip spoiler" or the "rear trunk deck/lid spoiler" ??? as pictured in the previous post.
I just installed a OEM rear deck spoiler on my 09 sedan and fits very snug, with no visible adhesive tape. I will state that the ends of the spoiler(like the last 2-3") on each side have a slight gap, maybe a 1/16" or less, that show the the black foam weather stripping and I believe this is normal as I've seen it that way on the factory installed ones on the dealers lot. If you could see the underside of one before it's installed, you'd see that the 3M double sided tape runs along the top and bottom edges up until the last 3" or so and then they use a foam weather tape/gasket that doesn't stick. I think it's purpose is to just to prevent the spoiler from rubbing the paint and scrathing it. The outer edges of the spoiler are held onto the truck deck by a 5/16" push clip which you should be able to see if you pull off the truck liner and look, you'll also be able to see the 4 bolts used to hold the main part of it. My spoiler,at the ends, is not loose by any means, maybe you should take a look and see if they installed those 2 end fasteners.

i never seen any tape stick out of the lip spoilers installed from the dealership. it's only one template to have the spoiler installed. bring it back if you do have any issues but it should be a perfect fitment

g37mushings, Got any pictures to post yet. I was just looking over mine again and don't see any sign of exposed mounting tape. My car is white, so any sign of that 3M mounting tape showing would be easy to see.

Tried multiple pics today, they all suck. It is the outer edge looking towards the rear of the car. Will try a few more. The tape is not what you see, but the rubber strip between the spoiler and the trunklid.
