Should I pull the trigger on a 09 G37Xs?
I test drove a 09 G37xs and found somethings that made me rethinking about not pulling the trigger. Opinions and experience are subjetive. This is not a hate thread. Just need constructive input to help me decide. Or maybe I am just too critical.
First, $39,700 for a 09 G37Xs, sport, premium, nav, areo pkg (dealer only has the exterior and interior color I want with areo pkg. I do like the lip spoiler) is bit pricey. This includes VPP discount. What is a good price? PM me if you dont mind sharing your purchased price and options.
Secondly, The roadside noise is kinda loud. I do understand the Sports pkg come with better tires and its made for performance and not for comfort. But the amount of noise on a "Luxury sports sedan" was not what I expected. There is also the wind noise. Sounds like window is not fully close. This was tested without AC, with low radio volume or no radio. I also tested the non-S model, same amount of noise.
When you down shift in DS mode, does the engine race( done it in 15, 20, 30mph)? I was expecting the down shifting to be like a manual stick where it slows you down. Was I doing it wrong?
With the Sports pkg model, when I take my feet of the gas pedal, the car feels like it was breaking. When I tested in the non-S model, it didnt exhibit this effect. Sales guys said the non-s been broken in. What is your experience?
Can you disable the seat and steering moving out of your way when you exit (in case I have stuff in the back seat)?
Do you have to pay for XM radio, if so how much?

You can disable the moving of the car and seat when you exit. its done thro the settings.
And you do have to pay for the XM radio. here is the link: http://www.xmradio.com/navtraffic/pricing.xmc
the car it self will come with free (XM + traffic) report for 3 months
I suggest you check out what the invoice price of the car would be. That sounds like it would list around 45K, so it seems like a decent deal to me.
I would not call my car loud at all. I definitely do not hear anything that sounds like a window slightly open. I can drive down the highway and talk on my hands free phone and it is very clear on both ends.
Sport package on a X is nothing but looks, so there is nothing that would cause that. How fast were you going? There is a problem where a lot of the Gs engine break in the 20 - 30 MPH range. There is a TSB that can be applied to fix it.
After the trial you have the option of paying a monthly fee or just getting rid of it. You can also get just radio or radio and traffic.
My advice would be, if you want a great car with really good performance for a good price, get the G. If you want a Luxury car that can go fast, go somewhere else.

Our perceptions are relative to our past experiances. Where are you coming from? A Bentley? a Honda Accord?

My last two cars were Mustang GT's. Coming from those, this car is the crazy quiet. Even with summer tires, I can't believe how little road noise I've experienced. With the windows up, I'm very impressed with how quiet this car is. I wish it had a little more exhaust note.
To the op, no offense but if super smooth ride and hush interior are your priorities then u are looking at the wrong car. I suggest Lexus. The G is suppose to be a performance car first and luxury second. Most automotive reviews will tell you this. The exhaust will be louder, the interior will be louder, the tires will be louder...etc. But not to a point of being unbearable. I actually find it ok even for long distance. What u get is a sleeper sedan that can blow most cars in the same price range away in sheer performance, control and speed. Now even more so with the refinement of the new engine + 7 gears but it still won't be a Buick or Lexus in terms of plush.
In ds mode, depending how fast u are going sometimes it does brake. But most of the time it self blimps the throttle to provide you with a smooth downshift. Otherwise u will get a lot of hard jerking. This is a good thing. Besides, the brakes are excellent so why not use them instead of using the engine to brake?

After a Mustang anything is quiet.... lol After having had 3 mustangs with flowmasters I have been driving on all kinds of rural roads in upstate NY for years, and although I have heard people talk about deer encounters I have never seen one. My exhaust must have been scaring them away fro miles....lol Then when I got my first Maxima, I was like holy **** these things are everywhere...

The all season Dunlop tires on an Xs are considerably louder than the S Bridgestone tires. On the other hand they will proly last twice as long.

I have to agree with everybody here. If you want a quiet, smooth and fast car, get a IS350. But the IS350 does not come with AWD if that's what you are looking for. The IS250AWD is REALLY underpowered.
If you still want a G, get one with 17" wheels. You may like it better.

Chuwontis- I'm considering the same package as you and $39,700 sounds about right for a VPP 'C' program price. But don't forget the $2500 sales incentive that Infiniti offers, that should put you at about $37K with a fairly loaded G37xS.
I have to agree with the other posters on your other criticisms of the car--sounds like you want more of vehicle that emphasizes sound insulation and comfort. If that's true, the G may not be the vehicle for you. The G37xS is a sport sedan with the emphasis on SPORT.

I have a Nissan 98 and the amount of noise is comparable.
Don't get me wrong. My perception was set my marketing and advertisement. Now I know what to expect and the stuff I mention is normal. Thats cool.

Are you referring to the 0.0% financing or if you get your own financing, you get $2000 (and not $2500). Or am I missing something.
