New Engine for 2010 G37

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...new_q_car_news

The windblown puddle of mercury known as the Infiniti Essence concept car shown at this year's Geneva show tells volumes about where Nissan's luxury division is headed both stylistically and technically. The twin-turbo 3.7-liter direct injection V-6 in the Essence will debut, sans turbos, in the redesigned M sedan due in early 2010, making about 340–350 hp. The complex direct-injection technology, in which fuel is injected directly into the cylinder rather than in the intake ports as is more common, most likely will also make its way into the G37 coupe and sedan as mid-cycle upgrades before the cars are completely redesigned in about three years. Besides making more power, gasoline direct-injection technology is also needed to meet tightening emissions and fuel-economy regulations around the world.

I don't see it happening in 2010... My guess would be 2011.

lots of companies are moving from multi-port injection to direct injection. slightly more hp and better fuel economy. not sure when but im sure nissan will do the same as they havent yet.

2012 model year at the earliest I bet.

But why steer away from the twin turbos?

From the article, the new M will get the new engine. Eventually the new engine will make its way into the coupe and sedan.

This makes sense as the Infiniti attempts to lure more customers away from BMW's 3 series.

The show car had twin turbos so they're saying that it will have the same engine as the show car but without the twin turbos.

i highly doubt that they will bring the turbos to the G37. Direct injection would be awesome for our cars, but i don't think i can trade up just for that alone.

look at how much potential the VQ37hr has w/o turbo's against the bmw inline-6 TT. who needs a higher pricetag and the N/A motor's are less maintainence/headaches

if they turbo our engines it will basically be a GTR engine...all they need to do is bore and stroke the motor .2 more liters and we'll be running 3.8s too haha

3.7 + .2 = 3.9 I think you meant to say bore and stroke .1 more litre.
