Couple ?'s from a G n00b thinking about buying a G37...
I posted part of this msg on the newbie forum but so far no responses, so I thought I'd throw it out on the appropriate forum.
Couple questions for you gurus:
1. How responsive is the paddle shifts on the 7AT? Is there a noticeable lag on hard shifts at WOT? if so, is there a software flash from an aftermarket tuner to fix this?
Also, how is the rev match feature on the 7AT? Do the downshifts resemble at all how a manual tranny does or this is more gimmick than anything?
If you opt to use the lever to up-/downshift, do you push up to upshift or down to upshift?(sorry for all the tranny questions-- all my current rides are stick and it'll be my first slushbox, so I want an shift interface that's still somewhat interactive)
2. What's the widest tire F/R I can fit without any rubbing issues with the car lowered with the tire at the fender on coilovers? I would love to run 235F/285R if I didn't have to roll any fenders!
3. Are there any good chip tuners that a majority of you can vouch for and what kind of HP gains are we looking at?
4. any common problems with the V36 that I should be aware of other than the rough downshifts at low speed that I've read about?
TIA and hope to join "the G club" soon. Peace.

1. there is a delay between you telling the tranny, and the action, but at WOT, it will shift pretty hard. On the shifter, you push forward (up) to shift up, and pull back (down) to shift down. The downshift revmatching will be smoother than all but the most experienced drivers here. I can pretty much guarantee that you can go from 5->2 faster on this AT than 99% of the 6MT drivers here can with a manual, fully engaging each gear and revmatching.
2. Fenders come pre-rolled. Tire width all depends on the offset you get and the camber you're willing to run. If you're lowering and want to run wide tires, get coils, as the stock suspension doesn't have camber adjustment. (Camber kit can substitute with springs, but you will eventually blow the shocks).
3. none. There are supporting reflashes, but the engine is very well tuned from the factory.
4. The car is relatively new

Looks like Technosquare has a reflash for the 3.7 VVEL-powered cars:

+11whp/+10 ft-lbs Not bad.
I'd love remap of the shift program to speed up the shifts though.
