Just picked up my new 09 G37x. Its beautiful and I love it so far. I'm only 21 and still in college so I was wondering what I should do to mod it. Keep in mind, I don't have a lot of money as of now. I don't need it to be faster, just to be a little more physically attracting. Let me know some prices and parts, because I'm totally new to spoofing my car up. Thanks guys!

Interior/exterior Led's
tints
whiter HID's than the stock HID's
paint headlight housing's
rims

and many more

 

Dear ianneelly, you should be fine without much modifications. The car is a beauty by itself. I do not however oppose personalizing any vehicle. Hold on to your money for now. Eagerness & excitement sometimes lighten the wallet than expected. Feel the car for some months & I guess it will "whisper" to you some ideas that suit you & your car. Don't haste. Tuition, allowance, book costs, daily living could put a damper on your expenditures, so it would be best if you take some time to review which modifications bring you best bang for the buck. One that might be well worth thinking about especially since you have a new shining car would be a clear bra device to protect your front end from rock chips. That will surely protect your investment.

Reno, thanks for the advice. I totally agree that the cost of living in such hard economic times is hard enough already. I'll let it soak in for a while Currently I'm a Business Management major at Virginia Tech. I'm going into my senior year, so my times coming to an end. As for the clear bra, I will definitely look into that. Thanks for the advice, and if you ever have any more...feel free to fill me in. I'm driving back to school for the first part of summer tomorrow, and can't wait to have some time alone with my new G. P.S. the instrument panel inside the car at night is to die for. Hi ianneely, Congratulation on this G37. It is indeed a beautiful car to own & enjoy. My two tennagers, daughter is in 2nd year of UT-Austin, son is in HS senior-year, they *both* loved and admired this car. In fact, my children were the reasons why I have my G37 now, instead of owning a Lexus ES350 or a Lincoln MKS. I coulnd't forget the way they looked at and admired the car. And the first day, my son begged me, please, please let him drive it. It was already late 11pm, so the answer was NO. He eventually was allowed to drive the next day. And he brought it to his friends showing off what his dad just got. And he is dreaming one day, dad would just give to him, and dad would buy another car, whatever make/model "he really wants".

Anyway, as far as the clear bra, one time I was considering it, but I got the thinking what if one day it creates a permanent mark on the paint, if later you don't use it any more...is this a valid concern?

 

The 2 better clear bra products on the market today, 3M and Ventureshield, claim they will not leave any mark if removed and I've seen posts in other forums confirming this. I went with the Ventureshield product because opinion and specs on it's performance indicate it's a better product in terms of look and strength. I can see the edge when looking at it from the rear of it, but cannot see it from the front. It will not discolor the paint or prevent it from fading any differently from the unprotected paint so if you remove it there should be no difference other than it should be in better condition. I know someone with a Lexus that has the 3M product and it's much more noticeable and has yellowed a bit - a known issue of the 3M product but some will say that 3M has a newer film that performs better. How will you know? Actually, 3M bought Ventureshield which says something.

This is the first car that I have it on and used to hate the thought of this product for similar concerns that you have, but after seeing what an unprotected car in the NE looks like after a few winters and researching a bit I'm glad I got this.

 

I have been applying paint protection film for yrs and have never seen (or heard) of them leaving any "marks" on the paint. If you dont get it you will get chips... and from the G37s I have seen so far it doesnt take long for them to get blasted. The paint on these cars is too soft and chips very easily... so if you want to keep it looking new, get a clear bra.

If you know of a good tint shop they can likely give you a quote on a clear bra. Also, www.ventureshield.com will show you some local installers of their product, and sometimes the dealer will use one of their installers if they offer the same product. Ventureshield will cost about $695 for the front bumper, partial hood, headlights, mirrors and a small piece for the rear trunk bumper area. Without the headlights and trunk it's about $100-150 less. Those are their standard prices so you may be able to get it for less, but don't let the dealer try to sell it for more.

Thanks guys! I drove it back down to Virginia Tech yesterday from Richmond, and the ride was awesome! The pollen here is horrible and its already collecting on my car. Luckily its been raining so it keeps it semi-clean. Black is so good looking, yet it shows everything on it!
