Informal DS accelerations times 08Xs

I had a chance to do some informal acceleration test today in my 08 Xs. Theses are informal non scientific tests.

So your time may vary, If you choose to this depending on conditions, kind of muggy today. But my #'s were the same. I ran each test 3 times on route 287 North in NJ on my way to see a client and a road test that did not happened. Got the same # all three time for both tests.

I used the trusty CD player as my stop watch, very scientific.
From 60-90 mph's in DS mode flooring the G, it took 7 seconds to hit 90mph's.
From 70-90 mph's in DS mode flooring my G it took 5 Seconds to hit 90mph's.

I was hoping to test out a G37X sedan, provided it was broken-in, in a similar manner. But my dealer which I will not name at this time, would not let an existing 45 year old customer wearing a suit take out a G37X or Xs on a test drive without a baby sitter. So I left.

If anyone has a broken in G37X or Xs and wants to post there #'s I would be interested. If not I will post mine if I get a loaner G37X next month when I'm in for service.

Also I might be ordering an HKS air filter and If I buy one I will try the test with the HKS filter in place.

Wouldn't it be better to see if anyone has a G-tech meter or somethign similar and borrow it? There has got to be someone that has one laying around and those things are pretty accurate. i hear there is also some new software for the iphone that measures all the acceleration numbers.

i see where you're goin' with the passing times....

Wait 'till you get your loaner and you won't need to time anything -- you'll understand the difference

Why not go with the Stillen intake on your G35x -- you'll gain power throughout the powerband that's useable... plus a nice aggressive sound --

$500 can save you thousands if you end up buying the G37 for a subtle upgrade in performance

Yeah you do need to time it. I wish I had access to a G-Tech. But no more tests. I came close to getting caught by the cops. Good thing I know this hwy well and know most of the hiding places along the side of the road.

Today I took on a test drive a G37X from a different dealer. The car I took out on a 2 hour test drive was a loaner with 5288 miles. They were going to give me a new car but I told them I was interested in comparing the passing power and would prefer a car broken in already.

Here are the same scientific test with a new one thrown in
60-90mph's, 7 secs, same as my G35Xs
70-90mph's , 5 secs, same as my G35Xs

New test added and the last one I'm conducting unless I have access to a track.
60-100mph's, 8 seconds. Ran this test 4 X.

After getting my car back I ran the 60-100mph's test on my G35Xs.
60-100mph's varied and I ran it 6 times.
8 secs 2 X
9 secs 2 X
11secs 2 X on an higher elevation area where the G37Xs did it in 8 secs.

The 3.7 engine works better at higher speeds compared to the 3.5 and seems to breathe better as the elevation did not affects it's performance.
The passing power is slightly better but not enough for me to upgrade. But a RWD G37S Sedan is a different story.
I'm done.
