New G37xS owner! question

Hey Folks

Just took delivery of my new white G37xS last Wed. So far it seems ok. The car sounds a bit loud even during relax driving in D mode. Is this normal?

Also, last nite I accidentally downshift it so 2nd gear making the rpm suddenly jump to 6500. I know that u are suppose to take it easy and keep it under 4000rpm during the break in period. Therefore will this mess up my break in?

Otherwise so far I seem to like it. Much different car than my previous 6mt G35 coupe.

The loudness of the car is by design; it's basically a 4 door 370Z with luxury added to it. Some people added some dynamat to quiet down the interior.

Revving to 6500 rpm by mistake will not mess up your break-in unless you do it on a regular basis.

welcome and congrats on the new g. your engine will be fine. just make sure you dont let the rpm's sit constant or go to redline for the first 500 miles or so. and agreed the stock exhaust is throatier than the 35 but i like it a lot.

Dear WRXXX,

Congratulations. I too found it initially the exhaust to be beffy sounding & an all too different feel for a luxury vehicle. But to my surprise, my wife & the neighbors like the sound. For them, it's not annoyingly loud but actually "pleasant" for them.

Hi WRXXX,

Congrats on the xS! We picked ours up about 2 weeks ago and lovin' it!

So what is everyone's opinion on the "break-in" period. It sounds very divided when it comes to that. There are the ones that say baby it and others say drive it up. Our dealer told us not to go lightly on it and expose it to a wide range of driving behaviours.

And that's exactly what I have been doing I have a hard time going so easy on a car that's designed for so much more.

I mostly followed the manual and did not really push it for the first 1500 miles. I went over 4K RPM on occasions, but not for long. I guess I ended up in between. I did not baby it, but I did not drive it like I do now either.
