Got my 2013 G two months ago and I have to say that I'm incredibly impressed with the MPG. I've been averaging 22-23.5 on my daily commute and the 600 mile road trip I took a couple weeks ago I was sitting at 29.4 when I got home.
I upgraded from an '02 Camry, trading at most 4-5 MPG for 2 extra cylinders and 150+ HP. Best purchase since my house.

Mileage has dropped considerably since I got my new wheels/tires (up from OEM S to 255s all around). Recently dropped down to an indicated 19 MPG on my commute from ~21-22 or so, which is closer to 17-18 measured. Abysmal, though I do find it tough to stay under 90 on the highway

Interesting. I switched from OEM to 245's a couple of months ago, and I haven't noticed a drop in my mpg, even though I was expecting one.

In the city I generally get 250 miles per tank or 400kms.
It costs me 90 dollars CAD to drive 400kms.
I recently went on a road trip of 250miles / 400kms mainly highway and it only took half a tank of gas.
My 2010 G37xs would get roughly 500-600 miles of pure highway driving which is solid. It's good on hwy not so great in the city.

All I do is city driving, here in Chicago. No freeway at all. All local streets, about 75 miles a week.
I did an experiment - half a tank of gas driving slowly, never above 3,000 RPM on accelerating from a stop. Got 12 MPG.
Then, half a tank driving calmly but using DS mode, often accelerating very briskly away from stops, etc. Having some fun, at least as much fun as you can have driving around on city streets- I mostly drive at night when streets are not very crowded.
So, this second tank of gas: 12 MPG. No difference at all.
I think I should be getting better mileage, though. A little bit better- 14? 15?
2013 G37x 4dr has 41k on it, I got it with 38k last fall. I have yet to replace plugs or air cleaner filters. That might help.

I only ever get 12-13 mpg in the city. not sure how people report getting 19-20..
on highway I get 25-26mpg.
my car has been fully maintained and inspected by infiniti. everything up to date and i always service my car in advance ie. waterpump, thermostat, plugs, tires, everything!

I'm getting 23.4 right now 2013 G37x. I thought that was pretty good. but my GF just got a Toyota Avalon....it's the size of a limo...... and is getting 30MPG...what the heck
Next car will be a turbo...best of both worlds...good gas mileage and power when you need it.

I've never driven a turbo that I liked. Power takes time to build up, I don't care for that. Turbo lag is lower nowadays than in days of yore, but it's still there.
The other thing that adding a turbo brings is lower reliability. Getting 280 BHP out of a 2.0-liter four cylinder puts a lot of stress on everything, and I don't think cars based on such powerplants will do well when mileage gets high. With proper maintenance I expect to get over 150,000 trouble free miles out of a car, anything less indicates poor engineering to me.
But I get what you're saying. MPG is not a strong suit of the G37. A friend of mine just bought a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis ( ! ) and he's getting 23 MPG out of that boat in a 30% city / 70% freeway scenario with a car that has 180,000 miles on the 4.6 L V-8. Kind of makes my 2013 G37x's 18 MPG in city driving look pretty bad. True, my G37x is MUCH faster, but it still seems spooky that he gets such good mileage with that land-yacht.

Yea the gas mileage vs fuel economy equation on our cars is pretty bad. An F-150 EB is as fast as our cars and gets the same gas mileage. Lots of BMW/VW/Audi cars are the same size and speed but get like 30-40% better gas mileage. Hell even the old V6 Accords and Camrys were close in speed and got better mileage. Big engine + high revs to make power = gas guzzler. Def getting a 2.0T car to replace this when the time comes.
