Infiniti Coupe Concept
Even if this broad-shouldered sport coupe didn't have a badge on it,you'd guessit as some sort of infiniti G35. Though badged a concept,the Infiniti Coupe Concept is, according to one insider, a clear vision of what the next-generation G35 will look like when it replaces the current hot-selling version in late 2007 as a 2008 model. Expect V-6 power to remain, although horsepower should be in the 320-330 range. The next G35 sedan will be3 presented at the upcoming New York auto show and goes on sale this fall.
Bottom Line: our 2003 Car of the Year looks well positioned for its next round.

Great ... this totally RUINS my plans for a car. On the bright side (if there is one), I'm glad one of the big car mags is confirming that the second gen G35c will be out (and puts an end to the guesses).

RPM. Specific output for current performance engines of 100 hp per litre occurs around 7800 rpm. For a quick check of this, refer to say, S2K, M3, 911 GT2, etc. There are lots of 8K-redline-engine-equipped cars out there these days. This is a very general statement, so flamers need not apply. Sticking a big baffle box hp robber on your intake, for example, can get rid of say, 7 hp really fast, if that's corporate politically correct (Z v G for those new to ownership).
Back to RPM. Note on the concept, a 7500 rpm redline. This would directly interpolate to 330 (if 7K=300, 7.8K=350 from our 3.5 litre engine).
DI has proven beneficial for improving torque, as witnessed in Audi's efforts, and fuel economy (every DI has seen big improvements here). What has not really been demo'd in practice, are hp numbers that would not otherwise be attainable without DI.
Ironically, the VQ35 has been able to match the results of DI engine on both these fronts, in various applications, without the assistance of DI. Don't believe me? Calculate the torque per litre of Audi's new 3.2 versus our VQ in 280hp form. 77 for the Audi, 76 for the VQ. And torque per litre was the big deal identified by Audi when their engine came out.
Which begs the bigger [V]Q (pun for those still paying attention): With DI, what IS the potential of our absolute gem of an engine???

DEREK.. thats also what i figured... the ne IS350 achives an overal smother torque curve because of the DI.. but the VQ has been able to match that without even going to DI... cant wait to see what the VQ has in store....
