Hello,

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if someone knows what the problem could be. The car sputtered like it wanted to quit and all the icons on the dash cluster came on for s second then went away. I kept driving for a few seconds before the car just shut off and wouldn't start again. The power windows, seats, radio all do not work now and unfortunately the windows are stuck down I cannot roll them up. When I push the start button it will go into on mode but will not go into acc mode the car is pretty much dead. I've checked all fuses in IPDM, the positive battery terminal fuses and fuses inside the car on drivers side lower kick panel everything is fine. When I put the key fob in the slot next to the steering wheel it does nothing, buttons don't work it's like it no longer sees it. Batteries in 2 key fobs are new but I have a yellow key icon on the dash as well as a red key icon nothing else. The steering wheel is not locked and I can turn it all directions. I have to unhook the battery cable each time because it gets stuck in the on position I can press the start button only once and that's as far as I get. Is this a bad IPDM, steering wheel lock issue or maybe the body control module? I'm trying to fix this myself as I don't have a few thousand dollars to pay the dealership, any suggestions on what this could be or how to fix it are much appreciated thank you.

 

First step is always to pull codes from the onboard diagnostic system. You don't mention anything about the car (model year, miles or how long you've owned it), but it sounds like you may be dealing with multiple issues.
