I replaced the backup camera on my 2011 G37 coupe as it was not working just a fuzzy screen. After installing a new camera I still have a fuzzy screen. So I've checked the wires looking for a break but saw nothing. I heard conflicting reports about a video controller module, some say it has one some say it doesn't. Any help would be appreciated...it's my wifes car so I really want a functioning camera. Thanks
Your car has NAV therefore the CCM (Camera Control Module) is built into the main headunit. On non-NAV cars it is a external/ standalone module.
Is the rest of the display functioning as normal? Is it just the camera image "going wonky?"
If just the camera image is distorted then likely the (internal) CCM is going or a similar internal issue. Once in a blue moon my camera image will not load when put into reverse, however, after a restart it works fine- almost like the HDD didn't fully load at boot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As these headunits get up there in age we are going to see more and more AV issues like this pop up.
Unfortunately, this issue can not be serviced by itself. The entire headunit would have to be replaced. Fortunately, there are tons of used units on eBay for cheap. Yes, used, but I don't even think new units are available from Nissan anymore and even if they were they would cost almost as much as the car is practically worth.

Thanks. It's just the back up camera, the rest of the display is OK. How hard is it to change the display unit?
To change the headunit is relatively easy. A few trim pieces and some screws and the unit slides right out. The hardest, and most important, part is to make sure that the wiring connectors go back into their correct slots. It is VERY easy to accidentally mix them up.
When you say "headunit" is that all built into the radio? I just looked online to see if there was a video on how to replace a headunit and all that came up was the raidio.
Sample eBay image:
This the headunit. Also called "CONTROLLER ASSEMBLY/ IT-MASTER" it is the module that controls audio, camera, NAV, HVAC interface, etc.
Part number 25915-xxxxx. The last 5-digits refer to the specific car the unit was initially configured for. However, as long as the donor matches your car "spec for spec" you should be good for compatibility.
Just type "G37 25915" into the ebay search and tons will pop up.
The first 1.5 minutes of this video shows you exactly what you need to do. You keep the original UMAC amp (white plastic rectangular box) noting which two (2) connectors are plugged into it.
I just wanted to point out that the backup camera is wired directly to the LCD display.
When the car is put into reverse, the head unit sends a command to switch the LCD display to the "back up camera" input.
I would try getting a replacement LCD from ebay.
Fun fact:
That LCD actually has 6 AV (640 x 480) video inputs and one hi res 800 x 480 LVDS inputs (4 pin connector)

Thx @SonicVQ I stand corrected/ learned something new. So I guess all the CCU in the headunit does is switch the display and superimpose the guidelines via AVCOM? Strange since the display is normal otherwise but stranger things can and will happen.
Based on this @gareth get a display from eBay ("G37 28091") first- cheaper and easier to replace. Just make sure it matches 2010+ NAV models that have the brown GVIF connector slot:
