Used an Endoscope. Flywheel is fine. However the plate in front of it (guess it attaches to the crank) is broken. Will drop trans this weekend if I can make some room in the shop. Any recommendations for new flywheel?

Thanks for the update... in the end that is what the symptoms pointed to.

Where are you going from here?

Working on it

I have replaced the oil seal a couple of times. It seems when the flex plate broke loose it hurt the inner pump seal. It still leaks. So.... transmission is coming out again and taking it to a transmission guy. Going to put new pump bushing in it. That should take care of the leak. It shifts fine.

Took transmission to pro. Turns out that when the flywheel tore loose it bent the front shaft that sits in the crankshaft. Because of it leaking it has not been driven. I have a new torque convertor to install next week. As long as if fits in the crankshaft with no slop, it will be fine.

Wow. I do not think I have ever seen a torque converter pilot get "bent" as a result of the flex plate shearing. The odds of that must be astronomical (should've played the lotto).

Either way, I doubt the bore in the crankshaft was damaged but I would make sure that the bore is true and free from scratches/ nicks/ etc. before installing the new converter.

Got hand it you man, you're on top of this game for sure. Thanks for the update and please keep us posted as things progress.

Flex Plate Fail

I have only seen 3 posts about the same failure. With 300+ HP it was definitely a cheap design. With Z1 Motorsports beefy replacement, I doubt that will happen again

FINALLY!!! Replaced the cheap stock flywheel/flex plate. Transmission was fine. The torque converter was replaced which fixed the leak. Kiddo is driving it and I'm on to working on dirt bikes. I hope this helps someone. If you have mods for more power, I suggest you ditch the stock flywheel. From what I've read, plenty of them have cracks in them.
