Aftermarket Exhaust - Advice Needed

Hey G37 people!

I am going to upgrade the exhaust in my 2010 G37X coupe this summer and I'm looking for some advice. My main goal is improved performance, but I am also concerned with both noise and cost: I don't want to make it TOO loud and I don't want to spend several thousands of dollars if I don't have to. My friend is encouraging me to go to his exhaust guy who will straight pipe it for a good price, but I'm worried it's going to make the car too obnoxious, especially after reading through some of the other threads in these forums. If money wasn't a concern, I would just pay for high performance test pipes and catback exhaust, but this looks like it could easily cost upwards of $3000 CAD, and I don't know if it is necessary to achieve what I'm looking for. Do you folks have any advice for a good aftermarket exhaust that will give me the best bang for my buck?

Thanks guys!

Resonated test pipes and a full cat back exhaust
Any of the cheap single sings would do
as long as they jave a resonator AND a muffler
Dont straigt pipe it or keep the stock mid pipe
Becase RASP

Dual cat back with Helmholtz style resonators and glass pack style mufflers sound best in my opinion

I currently run Kinetix HFCs and the Invidia Gemini on a coupe. it has a nice sound inside and out with no drone or rasp. If i were to redo this, i would use resonated HFCs though, just to keep it a little quieter inside.

Ha! i guess inflation hit hard, i haven't checked the prices recently.
But I definitely did not pay $3000. IIRC, the HFC's were $400 and the cat back was just under $1000. But that was a loooong time ago.

HFC and catback are easily $2500. Figure half a day labor on the lift... another $500.

Could actually be a full-day labor if the demon bolts prove to be a challenge.

Yep, three grand is about right.

Good point @Rochester , I didn't think about labor, I always do my own stuff because thats just the way it was growing up poor - that and a handful of years as a mechanic. ... and walking to school barefoot in the freezing snow uphill both ways while sweating in the blazing sun. : )
