Does aftermarket exhaust kill classy feeling?

Cant cure the mod bug. I'm thinking about Tananbe medalion exhaust. This is not a what's best exhaust thread. I'd like to have you're opinions. I bought my G because it offered the best of all things, great engine, sports looks with class. I dont want to turn it into a race/rice car. What do you guys think in general of aftermarket exhaust? And what about 5at tranny with aftermarket exhaust? I've always tought it's kind of a no no whenever i ear guys going by
with mod exhaust on automatic tranny. What's your take on this.

yenno I've been contemplating exactly the same. I feel the same about our car as you feel top. I have a 7at with an ark catback and although I love the sound, at times I do feel it takes away some class from the car. again this is just my opinion and most would probably disagree. part of me wants to put my stock exhaust back on

I'd put the increase in flow and power output way ahead of a classy anything. I don't think that upgrading the exhaust on this car makes it any less classy. In fact I think it makes it much more appealing. It's the same reason people turn their heads when they hear a powerful exhaust note and don't bother to notice when a stealth Lexus goes buy. It's one of the best things about the Infiniti line. They are focused on performance and not **** about class. The cars are still a higher calibre line, but you can still have a blast in them. Especially if you upgrade a few select features. Do you have to mod the whole thing out? No, absolutely not. But upgrading with cold air intakes and cat back exhaust won't change the classiness of the car. It only makes it better. Of course this is only IMHO.

Let me answer your questions sir, aftermarket exhausts are great for your car because it turns lots of heads and it sounds amazing plus you get some power from it. Who give a **** if u put an exhaust on a AUTO you got a 40K+ car right?? What do they have......garbage! Hope this helped you.

For me it would depend on the sound... not to loud with more of a refined tone and less stright pipe sound... that wouldnt kill it...

From: Framingham Ma,
It all depends on the system, Loud or ricey sounding yes. Something like I have NO. It actual makes the car sound more exotic, Classier IMO, Do you think ferrari's and Lambo are classless??? They have a very distinct sound. Not saying our cars sound like that but with the right system the car sounds sexy and very classy.

Yeah, Of course it does. Bottom line. To the average person/non-enthusiast, it is going to take away from the car. My brother-in-law told ask me why I had to ruin a perfectly good car. BUT, I have a quite exhaust, Invidia Gemini, and honestly, it sounds perfect. I was worried about the same thing but it sounds super sexy and definitely turns heads. **** I like it. With the intakes it makes great power and my overall happiness with the car has definitely gone up. Don't get something loud, and it may actually accent the performance aspect of our cars rather than take away. But its all in the eyes of the beholder.

I'll ask you this simple question, do you think an M3 is less classy when they swap out the stock exhaust for another? I would hope your answer is no. Since you have the coupe, if you want something that doesnt sound like your normal Japanese exhaust, I suggest GTHaus Meisterschaft, their exhausts sound mean and more exotic sounding. Pricing on them is not for the faint of heart. Its also cause I wanna hear a G37 with this exhaust, someone get on this already.

You are going to receive many conflicting responses to this question.

I believe an aftermarket exhaust can certainly "kill" the classy theme that the G has from the factory. However, I don't view that as a bad thing. The G is not a strict sports car. It is a "luxury tourer," as many on here like to call it. It is a luxury car with a hint of sport. It is a car in which you can feel comfortable pulling up to a valet at a nice restaurant with your wife in the passenger seat, but also a car from which you can experience a little thrill on your ride home from the office on a Friday afternoon.

I ordered a new exhaust in February. It should finally be in my custody by the middle of next week. It is full titanium and the tips are purple. It will be significantly louder than my current set-up. It is most definitely not the definition of "classy." However, if anyone has seen my car, it is apparent that I am not aiming for classy.

You are free to make the G whatever you want. When you lower it, when you add aggressive wheels and wider tires, when you swap out the sway bars, add fake carbon fiber, paint your headlights, and install an intake, you're changing the personality and the theme of YOUR car. Does it make it better or worse? Classy or rice? That's all up for debate. It's subjective. I would like to think that one would not alter/change/modify their car if they did not think those modifications were, in some way, improving it. At the same time, "classy" may not be the desired result for many enthusiasts.

But, really... Who cares? It's your car. Modify it the way you want to. Or don't modify it at all...

On another note, if you're looking for an aftermarket exhaust that does not scream "Aftermarket Exhaust," look at the one I have currently listed in the classified section. It is extremely quiet, no rasp, very well-constructed by one of the top names in the exhaust industry. There is a sound clip in there, as well. Fujitsubo Legalis-R.

I have owned 2bmws. First one was a 2006 325I and my previous car was a 2008 330I with sport package. This is a personal opinion but i realy didnt want to mod my BMWs. I liked them the way they were and tought that it would simply ruine them. As for Meisterschaft if they're all like i've seen on youtube no way in hell. These things yell out like a Ferrari. If i were to pull the trigger it would be on something that would be verry low, not raspy at all. I know this aint and never will be a v8 but i would love something that would get me closer to it.

IMO any exhaust that gives a deep, LITTLE-above-stock-loudness would actually enhance the "classiness" of the car. If you're running 10 mph and you cause people to give you a double-take, then something's wrong here...
