Fully expecting any backlash for this question but I'm just wondering what options I might have for an aftermarket gear shifter? I've got a Type SP coupe (2008) and the trim is starting to fade but instead of getting a replacement OEM I was hoping there'd be some other interesting options. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I initially tried the shifter from B2Autodesigns, but it required a lot of customization, so I eventually went the CF route and purchased this one from a husband/wife team in I believe Taiwan: https://www.ebay.com/itm/31414964350...mis&media=COPY
Aftermarket knøbs for the AT are limitied because of Nissan's use of the "push button" shift interlock system. Most car makers these days use shifter interlock solenoids instead of the button release method. However, there are options out there.
For "like OEM" knøbs, there are those similar to what @socketz67 linked to in his post above. Also, just about any Nissan/ Infiniti knøb will work: M56, GT-R, Maxima, or even the Q50/Q60's. Those are simple swaps. Then there are the aftermarket options on eBay that use a "interlock" adapter. With these, the adapter bolts onto the shaft and you press the knøb down to shift. There are literally tons on eBay for cheap with "MOMO" being the most popular. These are the most cost efficient option.
Then there is my setup. Full disclosure, I knew I wanted the Raceseng PolyTi (titanium) knøb and was going to move hell and high water to make it work. I still had to use a adapter and opted to use the one from JDM Parts Ninja. It is seriously overpriced for what it is (I paid ≈$120 at the time) but it is not as "bulky" or "clunky" as the others and it just works. Here is the setup on my 2008 (w/ 2014 center console conversion):
I wish the red base matched the red start button ring, but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Plus, the beauty with Raceseng products is that you can use any of their knøbs and still use the same adapters. Just unscrew one and put the other on. My hope is that this Black Friday I can order the Raceseng OrbTi knøb (the ball shaped version of the above "teardrop"). And, before anyone asks, yes, the 4-Leaf clover is the Quadrifoglio emblem from Maserati.
Point is, there are options out there. You just have to decide what you like and make it work.

I went with B2, but made my own **** for it. My shift boot was messed up and the silver piece around the shifter was all scratched up so I covered the whole thing. Some people will hate, but whatever... I usually drive in manual mode and this has good hand feel. Reversed the polarity of the manual shift too. For construction, it's just metal reinforced epoxy putty formed to shape around the original **** and then sanded and painted. Its really heavy, feels really good.
