I bought this cold air intake that is fit for my 09 G37 ( Performance Cold Air Intake w Filters for 08-17 370Z JDM Fairlady Z G3 | NPBoosted )
The kit comes with everything I need, but after installing, I can see that there is no way to secure the intake. Its only being held in place by the connection to the throttle body.
I have been speaking with the manufacturer and they have not seen this before. They will let me return it, but I would rather keep it and solve the issue.
Is there a part I am missing? Is there components of the OEM intake I should be using?
Back story - Infiniti replaced my engine a few years ago following warranty repairs. I am wondering if they didnt include these mounts. If that is the case, I hope I can purchase these mounts?
The K&N intakes have brackets on the bottom of those tubes which bolt up to the heat shields that come with the kit. The heat shields, in turn, are mounted in the location of the original filter boxes. Here's a diagram: https://kandn.com/instructions/71-7078_inst.pdf I'm not sure how your kit is supposed to work.
If you swap them, the MAF sensor will be nicely tucked away underneath. And if you do that, then maybe the brackets will be in a more useful location. If you look at the retail site where you bought these things, pretty sure there's a bracket there than you didn't use.
Those look a lot like the Takeda short ram intake mid-pipe, but painted red. Takeda's intakes have the MAF sensor on the underside, and they come with a large bracket. At least, that's how it looks in the pictures.

No, my intake works differently than the K&N. But thank you the info, this can still be useful.
I swapped the intakes around so that the MAF is facing downward, but the brackets still dont line up with any anchor points. They were a bit closer to other points where i could further secure it with a zip tie lol. Doesnt look the nicest but both intakes are secure and wont budge.
the manufacture of the intake said its possible i am missing some mounts, which I think may be the case. I had the engine replaced under warranty a few years back and its possible they didn't include these. That dealership was a disaster to start with but that's a different story...
