Lost Key Fob
Lost Key Fob
I was recently traveling and lost my key fob going through airport security.
In the event the key fob cannot be found does anyone know how to deactivate
it? I don’t feel comfortable with my key fob floating around out there.
Thanks

You can have up to four (4) different key fobs registered to your car.
As for a replacement, the stealership can easily replace and reprogram your fobs- but it will cost ($$$$$). For example:
A cheaper alternative would be to buy a used (or new) fob off eBay and have a QUALIFIED/ licensed/ reputable locksmith reprogram the fobs. The reprogramming will erase all of your current key/fob ID's (including the "lost" fob) and start everything from scratch. If you buy a new fob, the locksmith should also be able to cut the metal portion for the physical door lock. The general consensus is that most reputable locksmiths would charge ≈$100, or less, for that service.

- actual fob (p/n:285E3-JK65A) ≈$175 (would have to verify against your VIN)
- actual metal key blank (p/n: H0564-EG010) ≈$15
- reprogramming/ cutting fee: at least $125 (depends on hourly rate)
