Upper control arms
Was wondering what people recommend for front upper control arms when lowered, I was thinking about getting the nismo or spl ones was gonna go with z1’s with urethane bushings but then realized camber can’t be adjusted once on the car, I didn’t want spherical bushings because it’s my daily driver if anyone can tell me how they perform on the street and how harsh it makes the ride that would be great, thanks

I have SPC for 2 years now, and it has been great no issues so far. Harshness aspect I am not sure tbh since the car is lowered on Swift springs it was a bit harsh in the beginning.

I just bought the Kinetix camber arms which are the same style A-arm as the Z1’s minus caster adjustment. The more I think about it, I kinda regret not going the Z1’s for their caster adjustment but the reviews on Z1’s own site were off-putting.
I don’t love the design but the price point was right and I don’t plan on changing settings much at all. Good for a set it and forget set up. Camber adjustment isn’t the easiest, though not as hard as the internet would have you believe either, for alignment techs.
The Z1’s had a prior issue with the Heim joints separating but they fixed that with the proper red Loctite. I also read a lot of complaining about the bushings on the Z1’s being super squeaky. IMO this is a mix of lack of proper lube instructions from Z1(pun?) and user error. Poly bushings need a specific grease, look up energy suspensions formula 5 grease.
The SPC arms ball joint can slip if you follow their 125lbs torque spec, the Z guys torque them to 150-175lbs and report no slipping occurs. This probably isn’t a concern for exclusive road use but more so for spirited and track driving.
The kings in the space are obviously SPL and VooDoo but at $800+ I understand why some might have hesitations. The Z guys say it’s either these two or nothing so we’ll have to see how true that holds up for me personally with some extended track usage.
Here you should consider the cars usage and your own tolerance for degradation in ride quality. The SPL and VooDoo also have spherical vs poly bushings which will increase NVH. On the flip side their construction and design is far superior to the threaded Heim joint adjustment style arms.
That’s all I got for now. Hopefully I’ll have the Kinetix arms installed and aligned before my January track day to provide more feedback.
