What cars have better throttle than the g37?
Hello all,
I wanted to ask you guys what cars have you driven or owned that have better throttles than the g37.
I'm strongly considering the following cars - do they have better throttle response?
Lexus IS350 (older and newer ones)
BMW 335i (N54 or N55)
Audi A6 3.0t
From what I'm reading on forums, a lot of these have the dreaded lag as well... but I get conflicting information as a lot of people report their throttle is fine. For the record, I am NOT referring to turbo lag.. I'm referring to the lag you get while in D mode in an auto car. Thanks.

You're referencing the auto transmission lag . Going off your list, new Lexus 8speed is a good transmission, BMW ZF unit is a good overall unit but tuned more for luxury (N54 is a great motor but surrounded by not so great parts...N55 is more reliable but without the insane potential for power). Audi DSGs are fun. Drove a '17 A8 and the transmission was quick.
If you want to eliminate it all together...hate to be that guy...but go manual transmission.
If that's a no go, Highly recommend the B8.5 S4. They make great power, DSG and have been pretty reliable based off my research. Maintenance is key though so you need to be honest with yourself. You may be able to buy the car(s) on your list but can you afford them?

To be honest, I don't mind setting some budget aside for maintenance if I can make sure they don't have poorly programmed transmissions. For the record, I'm NOT talking about the lag all auto tranny's have.. OR the laggyness of the g37 tranny in general (I already got a tune and firmed up the shifts). What I'm talking about is the throttle response, and the solid 2 seconds it takes for the car to respond while coasting because of the poor shift logic and the way the TCM is programmed to save MPG.
Btw, is the S4 you mention one of the more reliable Audi's (as much as an Audi can be, that is)?

The S4 just needs to be maintained. When I was browsing the forums. It wasn't uncommon for members to be asking about reliability of models w/ 80+k miles. You'd think that would result in a lot of comments deterring the member asking but just about everyone who responded said as long as there is a maintenance history and the leak down test showed all was good with the motor then pull the trigger.
I was very...very close to going this route but wanted something a bit more...rowdy.

Uh..well - no. I went a completely different route and picked up a '16 GT premium with the performance package. GT came with more power, braking, cooling and suspension advantages out of the box. Also, a manual S4 w/ less than 40k miles is practically impossible to come by.
