Drive-by-wire throttle mods worth it???

So I got to thinking.... we are all on here looking for the latest and greatest to improve the performance of our cars but I have not seen any real posts on the DBW throttle setups on our cars. Is this because there is no problem with them? Have owners already gone thru all of the "magic tuners" and found them to be a waste of money? What is the consensus? I see that some of the tuners (uprev) have a "fix" for them and then there are the dedicated one's for sale ie.. Blitz, Sprint, Buddy Club, etc.... I know from past experience that dbw is programmed for the masses and not for performance. Anyone with real experience with these and do they make a difference?

What do you want the throttle to do differently than it's doing now?

Unless something radically new has come out recently, the only ones i have ever heard of for our cars are basically no better than just pressing your right foot down faster. Basically, if you trained yourself to stab the pedal quicker when you want to accelerate, you can just skip wasting your money on them.

thanks BB, Well I know that there are examples of the throttle not opening 100% (dbw in general, not G37 specifically) and some of us who grew up on carbs and cables feel that there is not the instantaneous blip of the throttle that we are used to. I feel that there is some room for improvement on my car weather that would make a noticeable difference or not I'm not sure. I am just trying to get as much out of my car as possible and know that this may be one area I have not looked at.

There are MANY on this site (including you) who have far more experience with these specific cars than I do and I welcome yours and others help and advice. And I've enjoyed your humor on others posts.... lol

Thanks.

I can tell you that the one of the features of the Bullydog tuner is that it can be can be set to remove throttle restriction. It works. The throttle is much more responsive, kind of twitchy. It's harder to modulate. It takes some getting used to. If that's what you want, it will do it. I have used it on my wife's G that has no other mods.

If you decide to try it, contact Jomer at FBParts for a good price.

I have the pivot and been rocking it for over 5 years and it is way better than the sprint booster I had before. No complaints and I have zero lag

thank you, I looked at the Pivot website but did not see an application for the g37, only the g35. Anyone have experience with the changes Uprev does with this?

I would love some mod to change out the spring in the throttle pedal to something stiffer.

I had the Sprint Booster on my old Maxima for a while. Got it cheap, and wouldn't have paid retail for it otherwise. It was a fun little placebo, although the adjusted signal curve becomes the new normal very quickly.

Current models have an on/off switch, with varying degrees of change. I could see that being more fun than a constant change. But I still wouldn't pay retail for the thing... it's not a performance mod, it's a perception mod.
