Exclamation Lets talk Brake Rotors, Pads and lines!

2009 G37S Coupe 6MT

Wasn't expecting to do brakes this soon, but my front rotors are definitely needing replacement.

I would LOVE the Z1 2-piece rotors, but I don't have that kind of scratch at the moment.

Looking for recommendations on good rotors, and pads. I I ran Hawk HPS on my 03 Infiniti G35 AT Sedan with cross drilled and slotted rotors. Unfortunately I traded the car in 2 weeks later when O/D started acting up.

I plan to use this car to hit some road race courses a couple of times a year, but it is my daily driver.

Recommendations appreciated.

I've been running DBA 4000 Series drilled/slotted rotors with Hawk HPS 5.0 pads for over 4 years with zero issues. Granted my car is not a daily driver and will never see a track, but the confidence I have after enduring several panic stops (damn tourists) has me sold on this setup.

All in pads and rotors were $850. I do my own labor.

Just my 10¢.

There are tons of helpful thread in the Brakes forum: https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...and-tires-305/

Seriously, more than you can count. Spend an hour trolling around for info and you'll get your answers.

As to the Z1 2-piece... I have them, and they are gorgeous. But the cost-2-value ratio is kind of whacked. I recommend Akebono blanks. Unfortunately, you missed out on Z1's Black Friday sales.

Between them, the idiots trying to find the beach, the klutzy college clucks, and the other morons on the road playing with their iDevices (handheld and/or in-car) you'd be surprised. As cars get "smarter" the drivers get "dumber" IMO.

And, yes, I know every place has their own share of traffic nightmares. I would trade the traffic on Long Island for this hell any day. There is a reason why this area has the highest insurance rates in the entire freaking state!

LOL. I knew there was a get-off-my-lawn crank lurking beneath the surface somewhere.

Hello old man. Welcome.
