2012 G37XS Coupe - Wheel & offset questions
2012 G37XS Coupe - Wheel & offset questions
I recently purchased the model in the thread's title. Can't seem to get good feedback on the best aftermarket wheel setup because most threads are geared toward the X or S variants, respectively.
First question, since the car comes equipped with a staggered set of 19s.
1. From a performance standpoint: staggered or box 19s, and why? I really would like to learn more about AWD and staggered setups, advantages vs. disadvantages
2. For box, what offsets would you recommend for front and back (for 19s)?
3. For staggered, what offsets would you recommend for front and back (for 19s)? I've read that the most common setup is: 9.5x19 +35-25 for front & 10.5x19 +37-32 for rear. However, these posts were assuming the car was RWD (S). Are these still the ideal offsets for an XS coupe, too, or are the ideal offsets somewhat different for the AWD system?
4. Are particular brand of wheels to stay away from? I want something decent but I don't want to break the bank on TE37s, for instance. Looking at Ferrada, Vossen, Rohana, Vorsteiner. Could someone rank these, or mention some other good mid-range brands I might be missing?
Thank you for the input, as I would like to get the most out of the AWD setup, and I can't seem to get accurate information on this model anywhere. I dod not plan to lower or do any camber mods. I want something I can easily swap onto the vehicle that'll add some width and add some marginal performance, while making the car look better too.
Thanks again

Prob laziness most likely. If you run a squared setup, you always want the rears to be 10-15 offset lower than the fronts if you want a clean look. It's just easier to get the squared setup with the same offset all around and use spacers. Those wheels you listed, it's really based on opinion. MY PERSONAL ranking would be Vossen, Ferrada, Rohana, and Vorsteiner. You have to get the right wheels though, I had 2 sets of vossens. One was heavy as anchors while the others were lighter.

Depends on offset, but 10 is really wide in the front. You could do it if you have a high offset, but I don't recommend it.
9.5 is a safe bet. I mean like I said before 10 will work in the front, you have to make sure the offset is around or close to +40. I've seen members on here run a 10.5 with a +45 offset in the front with no issues. It's just that you may have to test fit a 10 in the front with the correct offset to make sure. If there's a local rim dealer near you, I recommend going over and getting a test fit. My dealer has Vossens, Ferradas, Works, and all of that jazz for me to go test fit with whatever width and offset if I need to.
I'm running staggered on my AWD coupe. 245 front, 25 offset on 8.5" wide wheel and 285 rear, 40 offset on 9.5" wide wheel. 20" wheels.
I went staggered because after living with FWD cars and their square setups I like the RWD look of staggered. My tire diameters are within <1%, so no AWD issues.
My tire widths are a touch wide for the rim width, which gives my rim lips great protection from curbs. My last car the aluminum rim face stuck out past the tire sidewall and the wheels were always getting scratched. I don't see why easily curbed wheel/tire setups are so popular that even OEMs do it.
