I was wondering if there are airbags in the seats of these cars. I googled a bit but couldnt be 100% sure. I'm looking to have someone reupholster my interior but they are highly concerned that the car comes with seat airbags and dont want to touch it if it does.

Yup, not my seat, but thats where its located.

 

I see, this is starting to make sense now, this is why Im having such a hard time finding an upholstery shop willing to touch my seats.

What do people here do for torn leather? do they just replace the whole seat? if so how difficult is this without causing risk of deploying the airbag?

 

I'm not ASE certified or a trained tech or anything, but it seems the modules are sold and shipped on eBay so I would venture a guess that the airbag module is inert / safe when not plugged in. I'm not totally sure on this though. Anyone else know?

With that said, maybe you could locate a good salvage seat at your local junk yard or get something from Ebay.
