Airbag deployment help

So I dodged a dog went slightly off the road and hit a rock or something hard enough that it broke my rim and deployed my front airbags. There's no damage to the bumper or anything, so I have no idea why they deployed. I'm looking to do the work myself since I already have a complete dash waiting to be installed with new airbags. I am trying to buy a new drivers side airbag and I'm wondering if the airbags in the coupe are interchangable with the sedan. I'm getting mixed information. The coupe airbags are much cheaper, that's why I'm asking. I also know I'll need to get my seatbelts rebuilt and have the airbag module cleared of any codes before all is well.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Sorry to hear about your accident. The “G” sensor probably sent the signal to deploy your airbags instead of an impact sensor. If you find out more information on the interchangeability of coupe and sedan airbags, please let us know. You never know when something like this can happen , and it can happen to anyone.

I don't know with 100% certainty, but I've been using a coupe steering wheel in my sedan with the stock sedan airbag for a long time so I would expect it to be be interchangeable..If it were me I'd go for the coupe airbag..let us know how it goes

Thanks I'll update when I make my decision.

This is great information. Coupe steering wheel with sedan airbag is exactly what I'm going for. Thanks!

I don't think so...I think OP just wanted to make sure..I just replaced mine because the old one was chewed up and happened to end up with one from a coupe

I guess not. I just thought maybe there was since the part #s are different and some websites say they are compatible and some say they aren't. I just didn't want to waste money buying the wrong one.

Well, I got the new airbag from a sedan and it fit perfectly into my coupe steering wheel.

Seatbelt for my G37

Did you fix the seatbelt or did you have to buy a new one. The airbag deployed and now my driver side and passenger side seatbelt locked. I don’t where to take it. Help...

You either need to buy new/replacement seatbelts or you can send them a place like Safety Restore to reset them. There are videos on YouTube showing how to reset them but I've never looked into it and IMO spending $50 per belt to have them reset is worth it (unless you find replacements cheaper), because then you have receipts for the repair.
