Car doesnt start well, not battery, not keys....

Hi Everyone!

My 2010 g37S with about 95,000 miles doesnt start well anymore (initial ignition). I got the battery changed recently and I believe its too early for new spark plugs. Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? I got the key battery changed too so that cant be the issue either, thanks!!

What are the symptoms? Is is slow to start? Does it just click? Does it drive fine throughout the day then has issues starting after it sits for awhile?

What kind of battery did you replace it with? A quick stop at Advance Auto (or other parts store) and you could verify the battery is reading properly just to be safe. They should also be able to run a quick test on the alternator and starter.

Spark plug change interval is at 105k. Only use OEM for those, Denso 3457.

9 year old car with 95K miles... you probably just need a new starter. Mine started failing on me at 40k miles, which is way early, but stuff happens. A re-manufactured starter is a couple hundred dollars, and 1-2 hours labor cost.

Or let's assume your G37S is a 6MT (could be, you didn't say), then perhaps your problem is a failing clutch position sensor. That also happened to me at about 30k miles. A new switch is about $20 and a simply DIY.

1. check battery terminals
2. check ground wires
3. check starter

Good call, I didn't think about terminals/wires.

some oxidized battery terminals left my wife stranded once = no start. luckily i thought to bring my battery terminal cleaner wire brush thing when i went to get her.

cleaned terminals, wires, and it fired right up.

always check the easy stuff first!
