The single TB intake has very little impact on the exhaust sound (really, none). Underneath, the G35 and G37 exhaust systems are similar. If anything, Nissan/Infiniti reduced the dB's of the 3.7 exhaust but kept the sound/tone.

Looking at your final product...in essence this is a muffler delete. That J pipng on both sides are basically connected to the mid pipe. You have bipassed all of what the muffler does anyway. Exhaust in...routed out through that J pipe. It never really interacts with the interior chambers of the muffler. Deleted. Glad you had fun tho, cool to see the inside of that muffler

so I’m not talking about the single TB intake but a single intake into the exhaust muffler. The G35’s exhaust enters the muffler thru a single port whereas the G37 enters thru 2 ports.

this is based on a picture I saw of a G35 owner who gutted his muffler. Will have to dig that one up to compare the G35 with ours.

correct. However the sound is nothing like a muffler delete. Except it’s quiet like the oem except under heavy throttle.

Yes the Helmholtz pipe has an amazing effect at sound cancellation and tones. What exhaust did you end up with?

i still may try another exhaust system that’s enhances the tone of the oem muffler. We will see.

Ah, I see what you are saying. It's a single inlet muffler, I stand corrected then. I assumed because the G35 coupe had a transverse muffler can that they would have been dual inlet muffler.

There's a guy in my area selling a HKS Hi-Power for a coupe, it has the helmholtz chamber on each muffler. My car is an AWD, so I've been waffling on whether or not to get it and have it modified to fit my car.
From my research, the HKS Hi-Power and ARK Grip exhausts sound excellent on the coupe. Pretty much everyone that has these exhausts totally love them. The consensus is that they are quiet at idle and drone-free at cruise, but really sing when the throttle is stomped on.

I have remote start on my coupe, the stock exhaust is almost too loud for my neighbors, I do cringe every time I remote start it so early in the morning.....even OEM is quite loud.

False. I've owned the G35 previously. G37 / 2015 Q60 sounds raspy as heck. G35 sounds more throaty. Even the FX35 sounds better than 37.

We (my 14 Q60 and his 07 G35c) start our cars up right next to each other every day, pull away from the same parking lot every day. I can A/B these cars anytime I want. G37 raspy? Maybe if you've got an exhaust leak. Only difference I can discern is volume, the G35c is noticeably more vocal, but the sound is mostly the same.

I agree with you. G35 and the G37 "tone" is nearly identical, but the G37 is more subdued than the G35. Still think the G35 (and 350Z) have the nicest sounding stock exhaust for a Japanese V6.

lol no oway the G37 sounds the same as a G35 / FX35. The G35 sounds is very distinct. You can tell a stock G35 is coming down the street just by the exhaust.

If the G37 sounds the same, why are there so many people wanting the G37 to sound like the G35?

Who are these people?

I've seen lots of people wanting to do lots of things to their CV36, but never have I heard anyone asking for advice on how to get a 37 to sound like a 35. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the 35 coupe....but "so many people"?

I literally bought my '14 Q60 based on how awesome the G35 coupe sounds. My Q60 sounds the same, only SLIGHTLY quieter. I did not buy a G35 because the newest one is 10 years old, and I wanted a recently new, reliable car. I also prefer the G35 coupe interior and find the Q60/G37 interior super-bland. But, still, the CV36 is just newer and not so much different from the G35 coupe.

Shoot man, already my '14 Q60 is a bit too noisy on remote start for the neighborhood I live in.

We can argue this all you want, as far as I am concerned, the CV36 sounds the same as the G35c, just quieter, no way will I ever believe the sound is in any way different other than volume.

BTW, I drove FX35's a bunch back in the early 2000's. As an SUV (actually, a CUV), yes, they were very vocal. Compared to a G37....not so different. I don't recall the FX35's being so amazing in exhaust volume. I only recall wishing I could have tried a FX45.

So here's the link showing the 350Z (I assume the G35 as well?) that has a single muffler inlet. This is what started me on this whole project anyways

Don't get why we are arguing. The thread you linked to has the majority of people talking about the 37 being quieter. A few mention "aggressiveness" which could be implied as volume, and a few specifically mention tone.

The video was way more on your side than the thread. BUT, they both sound like a G coupe, only slightly different.

And I'm not "in denial", this is how I process the difference between the 2 cars, it's mostly related to volume, somewhat to being a single inlet muffler can vs dual inlet muffler can, but they both sound like G coupes. Honestly denial would mean I care enough to deny.....but I don't. They sound mostly the same to me. What does it matter anyway? Do you just want me to form the same opinion as you?
