2008 Infiniti G37 Oil plug fell out
Thanks for the responses everybody. I've been going back and forth with the dealership. I finally got them to come pick up the car and take it back to the dealership to get checked out. All they wanted to do is send a tech out to my house with a new plug and put oil into my car. I told them no, I want the car fully checked over and I'm worried about damage to the motor even if it's minimal. The car was in perfect condition, no oil burning, no smoke or anything when they did the change and now I'm unsure.
Somebody earlier asked and the car has 118k miles on it currently.
I have been trying to get some type of power train warranty on the car to cover it for future issues but they keep backing off and wanting me to purchase it instead. I don't think that's right in my opinion. They want me to come in on Monday to have a meeting with the service manager, owner and a finance lady and talk this out. I'm unsure how to go about this.
I would feel so much better with a new engine done by somebody from Infinity, no from a Ford dealership that knows nothing about Infinity.
Anybody got any advice for me on Monday?
Thanks again everyone.

INFINITI
Are you saying a Ford dealer did this? Or an Infiniti dealer?
If they resist squaring up with you, there's not much you can do because in these situations you are at the mercy of "goodwill". Some dealers are better at providing "goodwill" than others.
I agree that they should offer you a warranty. A few things to know about extended warranties:
-they have lots of exclusions, I had one on my Titan (never needed it) but at one time I read the fine print. To me, it seemed, they covered all of the stuff that, in my experience never fails, but excluded things likely to fail. Also, they'd cover things that are difficult to get to, but they wouldn't cover the work to get to them, or the parts that may have been sacrificed (gaskets, seals, one time fasteners) to get at the part.
-check for copay
-check for limits
-read all the fine print
BTW, if it's an INFINITI dealer, they may be wary of offering an extended warranty on your older car because it is possible the oil galley gasket may fail without relation to this oil change incident.
IMO, your engine may be OK. With as high as these VQ37HR's rev, if your lower end bearings (per your concern) are damaged, you'd know it fairly soon.
Maybe ask them to have a different INFINITI dealer to perform a thorough check of the engine. Make sure the other dealer isn't owned by the same company.
Thanks again everyone for responding. I bought the car from the Ford Dealership 2 weeks ago. Come to find out they didn't do a oil change when they took it in on trade. They stated it got a oil change, new air filters, brakes, rotors and tires and a 99 point inspection. So I came back in for the complementary oil change with my choice of oil. (Mobile 1) This is the oil change where they forgot to tighten the drain plug.
I would rather have a technician from Infiniti do the inspection. When I bought the car they told me they know nothing about these cars. Lol the sales man couldn't even figure out how to start it. I told him it doesn't have a key to start it, you just gotta have the fob on you, press the break and push start button. (some people's kids) I don't know how he has a job with cars.
Back on topic here, I understand what the one guy is saying about the extended warranty and fine print. This is why I feel a new motor would possibly be the best option. This is my dream car and I finally got one and now this crap not even after having it for 2 weeks. I feel it's only fair and to teach them a lesson to check their work. It wasn't even a busy day for them. They have 8 bays and there was only 2 other cars in there. So they can say they was busy and no time to check.

Ford dealers have a rep for bad customer service, another reason to not buy a Ford. Gonna be even worse for one of dem thar foreign jobbys
When I got in on Monday to talk to the Service Manager, owner and the finance person and try to negotiate this out.. What should I look for when I start my car up that will be red flags? Blue smoke? Engine running rough, check engine lights.
Any special test I can do myself to make sure they didn't just throw a quick fix it all can of crap just to make the car run okay until I drive it off the lot again?
Yes I agree with you takemorepills, the Ford Dealers do have a bad rep for customer service. Ill never buy a Ford, I do not want to deal with these guys ever again.
As for the money back, I doubt that I will find another G37 for the price I got. They originally wanted $9,700 and I talked them down to $7500. Plus they already sold off my other car I traded in towards this one. So I will be without a vehicle. With this one being unmolested and yeah 118k miles but there is still a lot of life in the card if their mistake didn't ruin that but its hard to tell until further down the road when its too late. I am really hoping for a new motor or one from a newer model like somebody stated earlier, like from a 2012+ G37. I would be happy with that to be honest.

Example:
THIS IS A MUST: Flush the engine while I watch and check for metal shavings. Add oil and check for any error codes. Drive it around for a bit. Bring it to an Infiniti dealer where they will check it over at your expense.
If everything goes well you go your separate ways. If not and Infiniti determines there's damage to the engine:
1. Replace my car with a comparable one. Here's one I found nearby that has the same specs and mileage.
2. Replace the engine with a 2012+ engine (prob want Infiniti to do this)
You messed up big time. I would have kept on driving and kill the engine. Then demand a new engine from Infiniti.
Knowing Infiniti, they will just say everything is fine and give you 3 free oil changes for your trouble. But demand you perform all recommended Services at their dealership to keep the 3 free oil changes active.

Playing nice in these situations should get better results at least initially, but YMMV.
And Neals suggestion of oil analysis is a good plan if there's enough oil to get a clean sample.
You’re asking for a new engine for a 10 year old car with over 100k. I highly doubt this ford dealer will cough up the money for that. Your best bet if you’re that worried is tell them to buy it back at same or close to what you paid and find another one....maybe with lower miles.

He should have called AAA and had the vehicle towed right back to the dealer that sold him the vehicle
