Hey guys!

Hey guys! I just got my first g37 and accidentally put regular unleaded (87) For gas instead of premium (91.) would this harm my engine at all? If so, any recommendations? Would the engine be okay if i burn through it and fill it with the correct fuel octane?

Don't lose any sleep, no problems at all, these engines are set up for higher octane fuel to run optimally, but will not be harmed by lower octane.

Just stay away from Diesel

There is a regular poster on here that only uses 87 octane all the time.

LOL at the diesel comment. :-)

Yes there is and here I am. I get a laugh at posts such as these.

I'm on my third Infiniti and have never used premium except for one month tests of 91 and 93 when I had my first 2006 Infiniti G35 6 speed which was still running like new when I traded it in for my 2012 G37S 6.speed. Those two one month tests confirmed my suspicions of the total BS that was being expoused by many misinformed posters that never conducted any testing at all. I carefully calculated my MPG over the same route to work and home that was 2k/month. My MPG was better using regular 87.

My 2012 G37S never saw a drop of premium for the almost 95k miles that I put on it.
My current 2016 Q70 has never seen a drop of premium either.

This whole premium gasoline debate is one of the biggest and costliest scams being perpetrated on many automobile owners so the OP can rest assured that his vehicle will be fine.

The savings of thousands of dollars in my pocket has allowed me to step up to the Q70 from my previous G37 and G35

Here are results of using regular on a round trip from NJ to Florida with four fill-ups on the way down, two fill-ups with local driving while in Florida and four fill-ups on the return.

91/93 octane is about power, not mileage. Calling this a scam is itself a scam.

It's to prevent detonation 1 tank won't kill you. The car will retard the timing on lower octane
