This is hardly a "common" scenario. You probably would have got clipped. Everyone on the internet is the greatest driver ever.
The problem with getting a taxi, Uber, Lyft whatever to get home from the bar is they are few and far between. There are far more rural areas than there are urban and suburban. I'm not saying that is makes it okay to drive home drunk, but those options aren't there 100% of the time. People that live in cities tend to think everyone has all the services cities have, when it is definitely not that way.
What I don't get is people who go to the bar EVERY night. It's much cheaper to drink at home. I can get a 6 pack for $6. If I go to the bar and drink a 6 pack I'm spending at least $15 on the beer, plus tips, plus shots, plus pool table, etc.
Anyway, I went off tangent there. While the driver of the G was definitely at fault, the driver of the BMW did themself no favor by overcorrecting. In no way should they have ended up the way they did if they didn't jerk the wheel.

I was also very lucky to have parents that begged my siblings and I to call them before ever driving or getting into a car with a drunk. Losing a couple hours of sleep was worth more than losing a child to them. They never b!tched about it once or even asked questions when they picked me up because they never wanted us to second guess it. I made that phone call exactly two times while I was in college without hesitation. Who knows, I might not be here today if that option wasn't available. As a result, my siblings and I have been there for each other a few times and I've done the same for my fiance and her friends and her family members at 2-4 a.m...You're saving a life at the end of the day and it's a small price to pay. Great practice to start; especially if you live in a rural area where Uber services and what not are scarce.
Yea that's tough; especially at that speed. I've dubbed myself a pretty good driver and had no answer when I took an off ramp and was greeted by headlights coming the wrong way. Luckily, the person jerked the wheel and jumped the curb and to the on bound ramp or I'd have hit 'em.
