I was thinking the g37 driver may be registered here, if you are reading this turn yourself in or your conscience (if you have some) will kill yourself. Pay your dues!

This video has kind of reinforced my desire for a better dash cam. My dash cam didn't catch the license plate either.

Car was confirmed found and stolen, but driver still out.

From the guy (who is apparently a friend of a friend):

Its been a hectic morning. Thank you to everyone that has shared the post! It truly means a lot to our family. We have received hundreds of messages of support and concern.
Just a quick update for everyone... Since 1am this morning, we confirmed an exact plate number which the car came back stolen, and as well as a confirmed address of the driver. CHP Officers were able to identity the driver and all information about the driver has already been put out on alert to all stations. Unfortunately, the driver is still at large. It is only a matter of time before he is caught and brought to justice.
Once again, our family is are extremely thankful for all the support from all of you. God bless.

I nearly had that happen to me, a bunch of buffoons were on the road. One decided to take the lane, while I was in it. I stood back and watched. Then this week a semi, wanted the lane I was in. I drove the shoulder to avoid it.

I just believe the power of social media, maybe someone may know something.

Just a busybody, trying to help.
Sorry to hear what happened

The video capture was good so I and perhaps others would like to know the brand and model of the camera so I can get one

I wonder if the car was only "stolen" after the fact. Like when the drunk driver hit and destroyed my porch. Luckily I got a description of the driver before he fled on foot because he reported it stolen while the cops were here investigating.

After they left here to go take his report they found that he matched my description exactly and placed him under arrest.

Way too easy to get a license in the states.....even easier to keep it while driving like a moron.

I'm not a hypocrite, I drive pretty aggressively. I've also done quite a few courses and EVOC training with the Navy so I'd like to believe I'm more than capable but c'mon...time and a place; and weaving through traffic while obviously racing isn't it...

Sad to say, I've heard of people I know doing this. Nobody else was involved, along with property, but they wrecked and left the vehicle while intoxicated to avoid charges. I don't get it man. They'll drop $50-60 bucks at the bar and risk totaling their car but won't spring for a taxi....unbelievable. Blew past impaired judgement and straight to moron.

I'm a fan of retesting to keep your license. It should not be one-time and done thing.

And with the proliferation of Uber/Lyft/whatever rideshare service you have in your city, there really should be no excuse.

Absolutely. If you're going to release cars capable of 12 second 1/4 miles times at $32,000 then let's make sure the consumers have skills a bit more developed than what is required at 16...

I also would add, a bit more needs to be done here in the states to get your license other that 5 quick maneuvers and never exceeding 10 MPH...Even the log book of XXX hrs before going for the test can be forged (and has been)...

The problem with getting a taxi, Uber, Lyft whatever to get home from the bar is they are few and far between. There are far more rural areas than there are urban and suburban. I'm not saying that is makes it okay to drive home drunk, but those options aren't there 100% of the time. People that live in cities tend to think everyone has all the services cities have, when it is definitely not that way.

What I don't get is people who go to the bar EVERY night. It's much cheaper to drink at home. I can get a 6 pack for $6. If I go to the bar and drink a 6 pack I'm spending at least $15 on the beer, plus tips, plus shots, plus pool table, etc.

Anyway, I went off tangent there. While the driver of the G was definitely at fault, the driver of the BMW did themself no favor by overcorrecting. In no way should they have ended up the way they did if they didn't jerk the wheel.

Probably caught the BMW completely off guard, hard to say how you'd react if you weren't checking you mirrors often and that car just shot through and clipped your front corner. It's nice to think you'd do the right maneuver, but at that moment

I drive with my mirrors anyway. I've been caught up in WTF moments more times than I can count and have more saves than I can remember just by using a little common sense.
