With warranties its a hit or miss or whether you'll need them. its more of a peace of mind. I bought the infiniti elite warranty for my 2012 at 48k miles. With the warranty the clock, brake booster, and an issue in the dash software was all fixed under the elite warranty. The clock and brake booster alone were over $1100 in just parts.

Right, the warranties are hit and misses. But when it's hit, you can definitely save a lot of money and stress. I also have an 08' Honda Accord that I bought brand new. Right now it has about 135K miles on it with on warranty and I've had no problems with it.

I say if you can easily afford it, then get it. If not and if still buy the car, then find a nice reputable mechanic that can fix any of expensive issues at a lower cost.

The problem with buying extended warranty's is once you add it into the price of the car. You probably could have just gotten a newer car with with 20-30k less miles on it for the same total cost. And that newer, less mile car is going to be worth more when you trade it in. Unless, of course you get a really good price on the warranty. But, from what i experienced paying close to 3 grand for elite just wasn't worth it. When my car was already certified pre-owned.

Like I said hit or miss. Mine was also cpo and still had problems right after purchase. For me it was the color and options that pushed me to get it. My elite warranty didn't cost anywhere near 3 grand and covers me for 4 years or 60k miles.

Right. That's why I bought my warranty separately. Actually I bought my warranty from a dealer suggested from a post on this site.

Here's the person I contacted for my warranty.

I'm confused! Isn't the elite warranty like 8yrs and a 120,000 miles and our bumper to bumper factory warranty is already 4 yrs-60k ?

Do what I did. Get the warranty and after 90 days, if your engine, trans or steering rack hasn't exploded, cancel the warranty for a prorated refund. If they haven't failed in that time, they arent going to. Not to mention, our cars have been rated by Motor Trend, Edmunds, Jalopnik etc as one of thee most reliable cars next to Honda and Toyota. Better yet, take half of that $2200 and buy some tools and wrench on your own car when something needs repaired. Infiniti/Nissan have parts departments for a reason, don't be afraid to be a man and get your hands dirty!

Glad to hear it man, I love this car! It can handle almost anything you throw at it. It's Nissan's own fault making a car sound this good, they forced me to romp on it!

An extended warranty is essentially an insurance product, and like any insurance product, you only really need it if an expensive surprise is something that would really make a mess out of your finances. If you don't live paycheck to paycheck and you have a reasonable emergency fund, I wouldn't bother with the warranty. If say, $2500 in one shot for a blown gasket would mean you needed to skip meals and would be late on your rent/mortgage, get the warranty (or better yet, don't get a luxury car).

My solution is that once my car is paid off I toss the monthly payment amount into an interest-bearing account and leave it there for surprise repairs or a downpayment on my next ride.
