I recently got into a car accident and am hoping that my g isn't totaled. Is it likely or unlikely that they will total it? Car is still drive-able and steering wheel and seat belts would need to be replaced(locked up).
Airbag goes off if enough force is exerted to trigger it. It doesn't mean that frame damage occurred.
Based on the pictures, I highly doubt that you will be totaled. From the looks, its a fender, hood, bumper, and headlight. Maybe crash beam and door.
Don't forget drivers airbag, probably drivers side head rest, drivers side seat belt plus all the exterior stuff. Depending on mileage an 08 G is probably worth somewhere in the 10-14k range? I could see the damage coming out to be in the 8k range, which depending on the insurance company could be a write off.
Really hard to say, depends on your mileage and all the things that need to be replaced. Just from appearances, bumper, headlight, fender, hood, grill and paint. should be a fairly pricey repair bill. If it were me Id be grabbing an IPL bumper and some black housing headlights....

Recently had a friend with a similar accident. No air bag deployment, but only cost $3,500 to fix. I highly doubt $8k unless you're going through a shop you know to purposely inflate the body work price to then end up with a nice check.
About 1 1/2 years ago while in Tuscon for my sister's graduation for her Master's Degree, my mom's Grand Cherokee [2014] got hail damage from a monsoon while parked in front of our hotel in valet. Resulting damage included new quarter panel skins, new roof, hood, fenders, doors; the car was completely re-skinned involving hacking and re-welding/sealing major body panels, and a complete re-spray. Ended up only costing $11-13k.
Modern cars really don't have a frame, uni-body construction. With that being said, a dent to the hood or a broken windshield would actually be "frame damage"
