YAY! My wife is on board, but need mod advise!!!!

Hey guys been on here once or twice snooping around. My wife gave me the go ahead to take my 09 stock coupe to 400hp. but she doesn't want it to sound like a Honda when I'm done. She likes the deep tones. will just changing headers and test pipes really do anything if I don't straight pipe the rest? I figured if I keep the resintors and muffler it should sound similar enough? am I wrong? please help

Welcome to the site! Sorry to be a buzzkill but you'll need a lot more than that to reach 400. I'd go w/ a cat back exhaust, HFCs or test pipes (preferably resonated), a tune, then call it a day. Lighter wheels, sway bars and sticky tires would also be good plans.

Yeah 400whp is only achieved by going Forced Induction but like blewnt stated a full catback, test pipes, cold air intake and a tune should make you happy! I just got my exhaust setup and i enjoy it very much

I think he meant 400 hp guys. Not 400 whp. Or I assume. Well lets start. To get close to 400 whp you can do it with all bolt ons. By close I mean like 360 whp, and that's all you will get. Anything more than that you're looking at a turbo, supercharger, or a 125 shot of nos.

You could always look towards weight reduction, which has the same effects of adding power. Change out the seats, wheels, rotors, spare tire/tools, battery, and pulleys and you can shed about 300lbs.

Are you looking to spend crazy amount of $$$$ (7-10k) to bump it up to 400whp?

Like Xnick mentioned - you can get the headers, cold air intake , High flow cats, cat back exhaust and you're still not pushing more than 360

If you just want the sound, you can either go with a muffler delete (Not too sure about the sound) or you can get a full cat back exhaust - Do some online research

Where to begin... Oh, buy a different car man. If you're just interested in pleasing the wife with the sound of the car, get resonated high flow cats and axle back mufflers, done.

Bro, just a quick question - If anyone knows - I have been debating on resonated high flow cats from FI but not sure if it will turn the check engine light on or can we mount the O2 sensors on this? Not sure - I will do more research but if anyone knows - Please help

I only have test pipes and with an added O2 elbow I don't have any CEL. As for inspection, I know a guy and just toss him $50 to kick the tire..
