Unhappy Some drunk douche hit the G last night :'(

short story: I came home last night around 2AM, parked, went to sleep, woke up this morning, gf says your car got hit, me: what? wtf?

Some guy who lives down the block said it was a drunk white kid driving a Toyota corolla, gave me his license # and said he parked across from me last night and didn't care. but this morning he was not there.

It drives fine, no CEL, headlights are working, fog lights are working, turn signals are working.

Any idea on estimate to fix?

That fcukin sux man. This is why I hate parking on the street...I try to avoid it if at all possible. I realize that is not everyone's luxury...at least you got the clowns liscense number. Its a good thing you got some good neighbors, most people usually "don't see anything"

What do I do with the guy's license #? Report to police? I do not want insurance premium to go up.

Will reporting to the cops mean my insurance will find out?

You have to report to police, it's considered a hit and run, if all goes well with police report and if they catch the person than their insurance will pay for it. It wasn't your fault so your insurance shouldn't be paying for it and your premium shouldn't go up. I would call your insurance and see, they are there to help you not the other person.

yeah your premiums should not go up because the car was parked...you had nothing to do with it. Typically your insurance goes up if you have any fault in the matter. IF they try to raise them, argue it with the insurance company. f you have a clean record you will have some leverage. Remind them you pay them all year round for essentially nothing and now they are trying to charge more for an accident you had nothing to do with...its hard to argue that. They should not raise anything. Put in the report becuase the other guy will have to pay, assuming HE is insured. By reporting it his insurance will have to take the blame and pay for it and HIS premiums will go up not yours

Absolutely report to the police. The officer called in the accident to my insurance company when i was involved in my hit and run. Everything was handled with no hassle on my end and since the officer reported it, it dropped my deductible from $500 to $200 and my premium didn't go up. I'm with state farm. My total damage was a little over $2k. I was in a loaner for 4 days.

Since you have his license # and can report him, his insurance will foot the bill and his insurance premium will go up....

But the problem is the guy who wrote down the license number, he said he prefers not to be involved in this and said all I can do is give the license #.

How much do you guys think this damage is? It seems to be that side piece

New fender is 300 plus paint
Bumper will have to be refinished and blended
Wheel refinish and alignment
1500-2000 but why not file under hit and run coverage if you have

Then tell the cops someone saw the car hit you and they left a note on your car with the plate number of the car. You are putting way too much thought and worry into this. If the cops can't prove fault then you have the option of not having the insurance company pay the claim.

Your insurance can help get restitution from the other guy's insurance. Only thing I can see that could ding you is you're parked facing the wrong direction.

When you sent me these pictures through text my heart dropped man.

Like I said definitely REPORT IT TO THE POLICE! Your premium won't go up that much IF EVEN AT ALL but the driver who hit you will have a crazy raise in their premium due to this being a hit and run.

Again brother I'm so sorry to hear what happened but be thankful you were lucky enough to have somebody get the azzholes license plate number. Cops will run the plate and go to the address listed to find the car. And they'll see matching damages done to said car. Whoever hit it can't hide due to you having their plate number. And no shop is open during mdw for them to get a quick fix. My opinion is DON'T WAIT and call the cops ASAP.

Like everyone else said report it to the police, you insurance premiums won't go up unless you file a claim but I would ask them. The police will try to investigate and if the other car is hit they can probably make him pay you or his insurance . Good luck and sorry about the G

G/L, through this Tim, you've been doing a lot to your car lately to get it looking just right, then this happens.

Be sure to follow the previous advice, definitely get the police involved.

hate to see these kind of threads... did you check your suspension components..
the hit looks substantial enough that it maybe more than an alignment adjustment..
