Chipped Windshield

hi,

My wndshield just got a chip on it. Anyone have any experience with fixing it? And did it crack again? Right now it's like chipped but don't know if it'll spread.

I did it through my insurance once at one of those speedy auto glass places... they basically fill it in but itll always be noticeable. At least it was technically free.

It didnt spread or crack again though so I would suggest you get it done.

This pretty much. My windshield got a small crack the second week I had the car thanks to a truck on the highway. I think the metric used by Safelite and other repair companies is if the chip/crack is less than a dollar bill in size it can be repaired. Been over a year now and my repaired chip is fine. Noticeable from the inside but not dangerous.

Get with safelite or one of those glass repairs.

They can resin it to make it stronger or replace it through your insurance. Shouldnt mark your insurance history at all...

I've currently got 3-4 filled chips, and a ~12" long crack working its way across my windshield, hoping it stays out of my line of site. Living in places that put down tons of gravel or winter means you'll see very few vehicles without cracks or chips in their windshields.

I have a guy that can almost make them disappear but he is in Houston....shop around some of these guys are artists they put resin and work magic it looks like a tiny almost undetectable dot when they are done. Others suck and it looks as crappy as when they started but they claim at least it wont continue to crack.....check around on the internet - most put pics of their past work...

If it is just a small chip, have it repaired. I was told before that "shell-shaped" ones are a bit difficult to fix and might remain visible after the repair.

I just saw this thread I'm glad you got it fixed! Theres nothing more annoying then a chip in the windshield to stare at while driving.

i had one small chip, I got it fixed in one of those glass places insurance paid for it.

Small chips are repairable but most of the time they are visible after the repair (unless no small glass particles are lost)
