Unhappy Car shuts off when I turn the A/C on!

Hey Guys,

I have a weird issue with my car which I've never experienced before.
I was waiting for my wife outside of the supermarket with the A/C on when suddenly I hear a weird noise and the car starts shaking a bit. A few seconds later it happens again, so I get scared and turn the car off. When I turned it back on, I hear the sound again and my car shuts off.

I tried it a few more times with the same results. Then I opened my hood and run to see whats going on, and I noticed that when i turn the car on, the Serpentine belt will be working fine and after a few seconds it locks and the car shuts off.

I tried again with the A/C off, and the car is working fine without any issues.

I want to mention that my hydraulic pump is leaking and I've ordered a replacement online and was planning to replace it sometime next week. Can the two incidents be related ?

my car is a 2008 G37s btw. Appreciate all your inputs.

Thanks all!

Your AC compressor is seizing up and causing the car to stall.

You need a new AC Compressor

Exactly this. Hopefully you still have a warranty.

Oh wow, thats gonna cost me a fortune to fix!

Are you guys sure of this? there is no way to fix the compressor? how often something like this happens because its the first time I hear about it.

If anyone can help me with the dryer part number, it would be great. Any reason that would be broken too?

If the compressor seized up the whole A/C system is probably contaminated with metal shavings.

replace the compressor, do not use a reman a/c compressor you will regret it. and replace the dryer filter while your at it since its the dryer that catches the contaminants.

The part number will depend on the brand you go with. Get with one of the forum vendors like Carid and ask them for one. They range from $10-20 and all do the same job.
