Front splitter vibration?

I installed my Outcast Garage CF front splitter last week and finally got a chance to take it out on the freeway today. Around 70-80mph on the freeway I noticed A LOT of "vibration" you can definitely feel and see it. Its kind of hard to explain but in the foot well area where the gas pedals are you can definitely notice it, my passenger noticed it as well.

I know the wind speeds are pushing the splitter down to create more down force. But I did not expect it to be SO definite. It did not come with the support rods, do you think this will make a big difference?

The OC splitter did not come with pre dilled holes but I used my best judgement to space out the bolts evenly...

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe vibration is the wrong word to use. Maybe "flapping" is a better choice lol I don't know how to explain it.

My advice would be to just mount the absolute s*** out of it to keep it as sturdy as possible. Mount it to the 10mm's on the bottom of the bumper as well as maybe some self tapping screws closer to the front.

I'm having my shop install my splitters this weekend. I'm doing Aeroflow Dynamics. But, the overall concept is the same.

In discussing the mounting, we got into securing and sealing. I'll talk with my guy about exactly what products he's going to use.

But, he is applying a bead of adhesive, driving 10 screws and finishing it with a final run of adhesive. He does phenomenal work and guarantees it for the life of the car. It'll be show quality and all out go strong.

Let me get with him and detail his plans along with product names. I'm sure the same will work for you.

I had the same idea for more bolts to closer to the front but did not think about self tapping screws. Will look into it and update. Thanks brother.

I might go ahead and try the self tapping screws, but none the less please update, hopefully this thread will help others in the future. Thanks man

Update: I decided to bring it into a shop and have them look at it and see what their suggestions are. They said since the bumper (IPL) curves in the front it will be hard to get it mounted nice and flush so they just suggested using support rods. I don't think I'm gonna do this route and might just take off the splitter. Don't know when but in the mean time I hope someone has answers for me.

Thanks guys.

Mounting tape and self tapping screws should get it done. The curves are a bit of a hassle. But, mount the s#!t of the parts that are flush.

The sides are nice and tight, just the middle area shows a bit of sag already, when the car was on the lift today at eye level the owner showed me a bit of wear on on the bumper from the holes. Too much down force eh? Wouldn't bolts be better with the nut securing it from the top? Seems like with the screws over time it will just rip off. Thanks anyways for the suggestion! Maybe I'll feel ballsy enough later on and try this.

Bolts would likely be better. I'd use rubber (or similar) washers. There's definitely a solution. Don't throw in the towel.

Looks like all the shops are booked up on my day off, so I might tackle this myself. What do you guys think about pop rivets for this project? I'll be using the bolts and washers and simply reinstalling the splitter but with pop rivets for the middle section. This would be more secure than self taping screws right? Ideally I would use bolts and nuts but the inside of the bumper has an angle where the nut wouldn't fit if I remember correctly. I think this is why it wasn't bolted down in the first place. Let me know guys.

Thank you.

I feel like bolts with a combo of rubber/metal washers on the top side would be best for the most surface to spread out the stress of the down force. Pop rivets are a good idea but I think they would be too thin to hold over time, maybe not?

I installed mine today with the help of a buddy of mine. In total we used 15 bolts. I'll post up some pics in a little. I think that it's fair to say that the bumper will fly off before the splitter does.

Sounds like you got it figured out. Boston did a bead, front and back, of polyurethane sealer. It's the same product used for sealing windshields. So, it's tough and clear. Just an added insurance policy.
