Chirping Noise

Recently in Chicago the temperature dropped down to 8 Degrees F. On cold start, I noticed a chirping sound coming from the engine compartment. I cant hear it in the passenger compartment unless my windows are rolled down.

I noticed the chirping noise when I turn my steerig wheel to the left and right. When the steering wheel is stationary, no chirping sound at all. When the car warmed up, the sound goes away.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this sound, if the sound requires an immediate visit to the dealer and if this is a safety issue at all?

Thanks to all in advance.

Belt issue. Probably a tensioner or pulley on its way out.

Immediate attention? Unlikely, but sooner or later it will need to be addressed.

No clue. Need to figure out where exactly it's coming from first. Without a year no idea if your car is in warranty or not.

Really, including year and miles should be the first part of your post. If it's under warranty then you pay nothing. If not, probably several hundred dollars. If it's an ac compressor or alternator, prices balloon quickly.

post an audio of the noise. its all guesswork at this point since no one here can verify the actual noise you are talking about.
