Burning Smell "at the track"

Hey guys need some help, I have a 2010 Infiniti G37 7AT convertible with 70k miles, and I noticed a burning metal like smell while going 157mph at the track. I slowed down and the smell went away. the next day driving I noticed a hard downshift around town. Now I am a bit worried is this a tranny issue that will be coming up soon. I would love to do a fluid and filter change, but that may not be possible with a sealed unit. Any comments about the smell or previous experiences would be helpful.

High speed runs will bring out such issues. Really, car should be in tip top mechanical shape if you're going to run it that hard. Meaning fresh fluids, tires, brakes, etc.

The trans is not sealed by any measure, it is not very user friendly however. There's a few dyi threads on here about how to change the fluid out.

Must have been a really long straightaway to hit 157... "at the track." Did you set some really good lap times?

LOL.

Unless he thinks the airport runway is a track no way he's hitting 157 on the straights. Please OP, do share how you managed to pull this off (supercharged?).

A stock G will attain that speed given enough "track". It's been confirmed. Just need to find a long enough track.
