Just Installed KW V1's....Couldn't Be Happier With This Setup

Just got home from having my KW V1s installed. Install seemed to take forever, but it was worth it.

Yesterday I installed H&R Trak DRM Spacers. 20MM Front and 15MM Rear.

Today, I had the KWs installed along with the SPC Rear Camber Kit.

Visually, I love the way it looks. For factory wheels, I really am content with the Sport 19s....for now.

I first noticed how low they set up the rear and I thought I might be in for trouble.....WRONG.

The car rides great. ANd I'm not just saying that because I spent the money on this set-up. The ride is still very comfortable.

I am surprised by how smooth the ride is despite being as low as it is.

It is a tad firmer than stock. However, the car feels more connected to the road. And of course, handling and sterring has improved.

I purchased the KWs through Forum Vendor THMotorsports. From Luke.
By far the best price I could find anywhere.

Welcome to the KW club! I have the variant 3s and couldn't be happier! What settings did you end up going with? I left mine on the suggested settings and haven't changed them. They are without a doubt a high quality product.

Thanks man!

The car definitely feels more planted and sure footed now. Cornering is great, and high speed right/left angle turns are even more effortless.

Freeway and high speed driving feels great.

Car even goes over speed bumps no problem.

I'm going to lower the front a tiny bit in the near future. Probably when I take off my wheels to re-torque the H&R Spacers.

At first I thought the rears were too low, now I think the front is too high and the rear looks great. Funny how that works.

I know the stock 19s are played out, but I figure I'll enjoy em for a bit longer before I drop 3 Grand for some wheels.

Thanks Sway! KW's FTW!

The Variant 1s are only height adjustable. They are pre-set from the factory.

It is a compromise between comfort and performance.

They really did a great job, IMO.

Willco1,

Looks sweet! Is the rear on the highest height setting? If not, how close to the highest setting. I'm looking to get V1s but want the height similar to your fronts on the back. Was the camber kit necessary? Thanks.

Thanks!

I don't think the rears are at the highest. When I commented to the installer that the rears are pretty low, he told me we can adjust and raise it up a bit, if I wanted. My rears are barely tucked, but other people with KWs have their rears set up that look similar to how low my fronts are. Which is still too low for some people.

Because of how decent the ride is, I'm going to leave the rears as they are.

I actually want to lower the fronts a tad.

The alignment guy was able to get the front within acceptable Specs with no front camber kit.

I went ahead and purchased the rear camber kit because many people have reported not being able to get the rears within spec without the camber kit.

Rear kit only cost like $150 shipped.

I almost did it today, but it started to sprinkle.

Not to mention, I am sore after lugging the 84 pound floor jack up and down the stairs after installing the H&R spacers.

And I walked all over the place while waiting for my coilovers to be installed.

I ate at a buffet, bowled 3 games, and saw a movie while I waited. Oh, and went to Starbucks twice.

Looks great. Do you know what the height on the front and back are (from ground to fender)?

Thanks Droop.

I'll have to get out the tape measure later. And I'm parked on an uneven incline right now.

I'll let you know.

I measured the fronts. Ground to fender is almost exactly 26 inches.

I didn't measure the rears. But the rear is a good 1/4 in lower than the fronts.

Just got done lowering the fronts a bit more. Dropped it about another 1/4 inch.

Looks even better now. More even. I will take more pics later, car is parked in between cars right now so I can't get a good shot.

One thing I noticed that when I first lowered the jack on the car after the adjustment, it didn't seem that much lower. But then I drove around for a bit and came back and it looked a bit lower.

Kind of a pain in the as$ having to break out the factory scissor jack just so I can fit my floor jack under the car to lift it it up. But whatever.

I looked for some slim ramps at Harbor Freight that I could drive up on so I wouldn't have to use the scissor jack. But they only had the regular ones.
