Show us how your phones sit!
The issue I have had with those cell phone holders is that they mess up the little dust protectors on the in the CD slot. Granted CD are pretty much dead technology now, it still looks ugly when you pull off the cell phone holder.
Looks much cleaner than all the other solutions I've seen posted here.
I'm buying this as soon as I get back to my place in Southwest Florida cause the shipping is to expensive to have it shipped to my home in Montreal. The stalk is also available in 18" but I believe that's too short. Also the mount can accommodate any device from a small GPS or iphone to a tablet too. And there are 3 different ways to attach this to your car: Bolt on the passenger seat, floor or console. I saw this in an STI and was very impressed at how clean it looks.

Nite Ize Steelie Ball Mount
I use the "Steelie Ball Mount" to mount my phone. This mounting system is basically a metal ball mounted to the car and a magnet mounted to your case or phone. Some of the reasons I like it are:
1. Extremely small "footprint". No bulk here. When the charging cord is not hooked up to the phone, the phone looks like it is floating an inch away from the dash.
2. Phone can be placed in almost any position, portrait, landscape, tilted towards the driver or passenger, etc.
3. It allows me to keep the phone charging cable extremely short. I can't stand when wires are all over the place. My charging cable is only 5" and most of it is hidden from view while driving.
4. Since the magnet is mounted on my phone, when I'm away from the car, I can mount my phone on any metal surface. This comes in extremely handy for work or play.
The magnet does add a small bit of thickness to a phone, the diameter is a little smaller than a quarter though. However, my work around for this was to drill a hole in my phone case. Now the magnet sits flush with the case and is barely noticeable. Word of caution: Do not place your wallet close to your phone. The magnet is quite strong and there is a chance you could demagnetize your bank or credit cards. I never experienced this, though I have had to make many trips to the hotel front desk clerk to get a new room key
