Apologies if this is in wrong sub-forum.

Got a ticket this morning for expired registration sticker. The fault is completely mine as I was being a lazy SOB and not replacing it. I have the new sticker at home but completely forgot to replace it.

The ticket is for $65. I just noticed on the ticket - it says the the car is a "4DSD" indicating the car is a 4 door vehicle. However I have a coupe, not a 4 door.

Is it worth disputing for this? If too much hassle then I rather not. I live in NYC (Queens).

Man cops are ridiculous. When I got a ticket a few years back they listed my G35 as a $2500 vehicle.

Nope. You won't get out of the ticket for that error. However you may be able to put the sticker on and show the court the receipt and have it dismissed for a small fee. Here it's $10.

 

it will be dismissed as long as you provided them proper documentation.. ie date of registration prior to ticket..

 

What BB said. I live in NY too and I've gotten out of it like that before. As long as you filed for it before the date on the ticket you should get it reduced or dismissed.

 

After I purchased my car, I noticed that it is listed as Athens Blue on the bill of sale but it's blue slate. =)

 

I live in queens NYC, and was dealing with the headache of an almost expired "temp" registration sticker. I went to the DMV to print out an extended one, sure enough it came in the mail the next day. If you have time to dispute that ticket go for it. Knowing me, and knowing that my a$$ was to lazy to slap on the new one, I'd just pay it. You live and you learn.
