Hello all, I noticed my 08 g37 coupe has been making a slight rattling noise from the exhaust only when idle. I'm sure it may be something that had gotten loose? Any suggestions ?

 

Put it up on a lift and inspect

I had the same issue a few years ago on my 08. It's a common problem on the 2008 exhaust's. I believe there is TSB on it. I had mine replaced with another OEM exhaust off of a 2011 coupe. The rattle went away after the install.

 

I believe his is out of warranty, TSB won't cover..

 

mine does the same, when i got my suspension installed at my local nissan dealership i asked my friend who was doing the work on my car what the noise (showed him a video i had on my phone) and he instantly knew what it was said it was my heatshield. it rattles the worst on cold start ups right? then yeah we had the same problem

 

Common exhaust rattle, I had the same exact thing on my 08.

Took it too a dealer, told me it wasnt covered by the extended warranty, but they were cool and replaced the entire muffler free of charge anyways.

Problem solved.

 

Yeah, it's not that bad but I can't stand it. I'm looking into possibly upgrading the exhaust since Ive got an excuse to now lol

 

Aftermarket? Check all your bolts or vclamps depending on the exhaust

 

hahah! dude i know the strug is real! ive had the same thoughts, itll be dumb to put the money towards fixing it instead of just getting a new exhaust, OR i even thought about going straight pipe muffler delete just to get rid of the rattle hopefully lol

 

I have the same issue with my Magnaflow cat-back.....but I found my issue. I bent the right side of the cross brace that goes across mid-exhaust, so at idle, it is vibrating against the cross brace. so now time to install a new cross brace lol
