I sold my 04 g35 couple a couple weeks ago and have been trying to find a good g37 coupe at a reasonable price. Man is it a challenge. First off I want another black on black G and was looking originally for an 2008 Sport and then decided to get an 09-10 because they started doing AWD and 7 speed automatics but 09-10's are not as nice looking because they don't offer the Sport model. I like the front bumper, akebono calipers and spoiler so that forces me to a 2012+ or IPL. For the money I mine as well get an IPL but black ones all have the red interior and no offense to anyone but it's fricken ugly. It's not my main car so summer driven only 3rd vehicle so I don't want to spend that much.

 

I'm pretty if you get the red interior, people will be lining up to swap out their black for your red lol

 

You're saying the did not make a Sport model from 2009-2010?? Is that really true??

 

if you think red is ugly then thats your opinion. But i can say that most people prefer the red interior over the black and if you get the red interior you can easily find someone who will want to swap out their black seats for your red ones with cash ontop.

Well isn't that a slippery slope you are traveling.

You want a G37 at a reasonable price, so you consider an 08 Sport. You see AWD offered in 09, so now that tops your list. Now you see that both are offered in 2012 (FYI: 2011 was the first year of this), so that is the new favorite. You have already made it this far, so why not just go to the top trim and consider the IPL.

The reason you are finding it difficult to find the right car is because it appears you are looking for a loaded 2012/IPL at 2008 Sport money.

Also, the IPL is RWD only. You said that AWD was a feature you wanted, so I'm not sure if you were aware of that or not, or just were considering the IPL because it is the top trim.

If you're on a budget and AWD doesn't matter, get the 08 Sport. If AWD is a factor, along with budget, get an 09-10 and add parts down the line as money becomes available or the car is paid off. If you don't have, or care about, a budget get an 11+ with the sport and AWD packages. If you are only happy with top of the line, get an IPL. Even if you don't have any money left to put on snow tires and you have to slide your way around town, at least it's an IPL.

 

I can't speak for the other model years, although I am 90% certain they are all the same, but black 2013 IPLs were available in the graphite interior as well as red. I know this because I wanted graphite/graphite and the dealer only had two cars black/graphite and graphite/red and he considered swapping the interiors.

Like 'em or not, I love mine, but they are rare so good luck finding one in the configuration you want - especially 6MT.

 

Reading this again, i think a 2011+ xS model would fit your needs. I have a 2011xS coupe and the only thing on the IPL i want is the red interior. If you like the IPL body more than the 2011 sports trim then you can always purchase the parts afterward. Either way you can't get an AWD IPL so your going to have to decide one or the other.

 

OK, after all that I ended up driving a few hundred miles and finding a low mileage 1 owner 2008 G37s, black on black with 49K miles. I found a lot of 09 and 10's for only $1000 to $2000 more with same mileage, but they just did not look as nice. AWD, but no big brake calipers, ugly front bumper, and ugly chrome trunk topper. So I went with the Sport model 08. I couldn't justify the $8K more to go with the G37xS in the 2012 and newer ones. Not much of an upgrade. So far I am really happy with the choice I made. I already was able to sell off the 19" factory wheels on ebay for $1000 and bought some aftermarket wheels for the same amount of money.
