would a g37 S coupe be ok in snow?

So I've been trying to find the elusive g37 xS coupe forever now. I'm about to give up and just go for the normal S version which is RWD. Would this car be OK in northeast US snow? Where I'm from, we never get more than 1 foot of snow and it would only be for about 2-3 months at most. If I get winter tires, should I be OK? Anybody else run a similar set up?

I got mine this winter up in Toronto, had no issues. But make sure you have a solid set of snowies

i live in NYC where we get snow ranging from 12in to 48in in a winter season. i own an X, but I feel that if i owned an S id be okay. winter tires make the difference. plus you'd have more options on upgrading the S more than the X/XS.

bottom line is: get an S

I've had mine (with winter tires) in both Wisconsin and Massachusetts during the winter. You will be totally fine. The limiting factor is generally ground clearance, not traction.

Facts, I am from Chicago and have spent time in NYC this winter and traction is never the issue, clearance is so make sure you set coil-overs accordingly.

The S is lower than the XS. Not by a lot. But enough to make the ride height look better. Like I mentioned, I drive an X and the height of my stock height X made it kinda scary when the snow was high trying to park.

I drove my 2010 G37 rear drive coupe in the bad snow here all winter, just all season high performance tires.. I did fairly well. Just got to watch out for hills. That said the AWD is far better for traction. Once you are going, the X will not turn or stop any better, just traction getting going.

Snow tires or not my s stays parked in the snow.it's all over the place in the snow.the snow Trans setting is a joke as well.get the s.and buy a cheap jeep for winter like I did.saves miles

I have a RWD running on blizzaks lm-32. You will do OK (lots of fun corner drifts ) but thats on flat ground, my drive way is slightly angled (like 10 degrees...) and with around a inch+ of snow you will not be able to get up it without a car lengths head start. (i try to avoid all hills, haven't tried one yet as its kinda scary... lol)

You can't get through a foot of snow even with an X and snow tires on a car that low. A non-X model without snow tires is no go in any snow (some say you can but you are rolling the dice and its super risky). So .... if you get the regular S you must get some snow tires (I have used Blizzaks) for your winter driving and stay home if anything deeper than 4-6" on the ground.

I have not been stuck in the 4 winters I've driven my 6mt S coupe. The first 3 of those were with old winter tires. This winter I bought new winter tires (Bridgestone LM-32) and I am even more confident.

Was going to say the same thing. These cars are very capable in the winter/snow with the right tires (winter tires). But keep in mind they do sit low and once you've exhausted your ground clearance you're plowing snow. You can also get stuck if you happen to drive on to some packed snow which raises the car up enough that you can't get good traction. Deep ruts can be challenging too.

If you live in any sort of metro area that does decent snow removal you'll be fine with this car. If you live in the middle of nowhere, a 4x4 truck is a better vehicle.

I live in Boston and I did just fine this winter. I can't really picture most places being worse off regularly than we were this season. You can't be a complete moron, but for the most part its fine. The only issue is how often you need to get out on the road before they plow the roads- this is like what others are saying where ground clearance is a factor.
