Windshield replaced, now I hear creaks
Hello all,
So i recently had my windshield replaced due to a crack. Upon getting it back I noticed a sound like leather/plastic rubbing on glass. I did some research and found that it might be the cowl. I completely took that off and drove around, still heard the creaking. Is it a possibility that the windshield was not installed correctly? To me it sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side. I stuffed a pillow of there and it appears to deaden the creak... so that is where I assume the sound is coming from. Anyone have any ideas? Also - it seems that just vibrations from putting the car in drive from park can cause it. Smooth roads or rough roads... doesnt matter... i still hear the sound.

Check out this DIY for installing felt between the cowl and the glass, worked well for myself and many others

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to just get it resealed at a different location? $100? I have no idea... if its only $100 I just bite the bullet and not risk retaliation.

Our OEM glass strength is not impressive. I have a coupe and my buddy has a sedan, both 2013's with about 20k miles, and they have chips with cracks.
I'd rather have Pilkington.

So in order to keep my $50 credit and go with Safelite, I have to roll the dice and take what they get and I have no idea what other companies make windshields for out car.
I am planning on having mine replaced after winter so it's nice to hear that Pilkington makes windshields for our cars. The only issue is that I had my chip filled at Safelite for $50 and they will credit me that towards a windshield but don't have any idea which one they will get.

Unfortunately, that is not the case in Illinois. I even called my insurance agent and verified. I asked if there was optional coverage for it that I could have had and he said there was no such coverage available for glass coverage without deductible. I have State Farm.
Thats is interesting... Id imagine they lay just as much sand and salt down there in IL as they do here in MN. I have StateFarm as well. I called them... said I had a crack and they asked where do I want to take it. I think I can have up to 2 windshield claims a year without having to pay anything.
Anyone know how much it would cost to just have the windshield reset? I told the body shop about the issue I was having and they said "we will look into it". Which really means... "we dont give a s***!"
